And I read another part of the five part of an Ask Graded reader level 4 volume. So I’ve gotten started on my read every day summer. Also no summer vacation here either, but doesn’t have to be a lot read each day, ne. ^^

Yes, I absolutely love this idea! I’ve booked some time off this summer and now I have every excuse to spend it on (slowly 
) reading.
For now I hope to finish both「 夏目友人帳 ~うつせみに結ぶ~」and volume 1 of the manga version of 「乙女ゲームの破滅フラグしかない悪役令嬢に転生してしまった…」.

Here’s my bookshelf on bookwalker.jp:
Don’t let those “100%” misguide you - I haven’t yet finished any of them, 100% just means that I’ve browsed through the book.
Right now I’m reading the first volume of はたらく細胞 manga (today finished the third chapter out of 4), so that 77% is actually accurate.
After that I plan to read the light novel version of はたらく細胞 - then, if all goes well, I’ll buy and read other volumes of the light novel, then I will finish the other books I have - and then I will buy and read the other manga volumes, at least that’s the plan.

I think I personally prefer writing a post for each day. There’s no right or wrong way, if someone rather wants one post per week or something like that they can go for that approach too. I think I might write stuff like long term goals sometime (i.e. books I want to have read), how much I’ve read each day, maybe about the contents or plot unless it’s a book club book (while using blurred text to avoid spoilers 
), stuff like that. But each to their own! Feel free to post whatever fits you best 
I did reserve the second post just in case, but I’m not sure

Im gonna participate! I will take this as reading a little outside of textbook. I honestly can’t read much but I at least will try to read through short stories with what I can and slowly hopefully I can understand more and more as the next months go by! Summer lasts til September here (wooo California) so that gives me three months to gauge progress
Today I read through the first two chapters of チーズスイートホーム (Chi’s Sweet Home). I bought it forever ago and havent even attempted to read it. The grammar seems fairly basic but it gets kinda tricky when Chi changes the words up lmao It is nice to be learning new words since my vocabulary is pretty limited.

Same here. I like reading other people posts for inspirations, and more posts means more likes to give (and recieve).
As for a wiki, would be nice to have one with summary table listing participants, and maybe few optional stats, like date joined and number of days completed. I can see from the thread that reading level and ambitions of participants vary greatly. We have a professional anime translator and fluent speakers, along with beginners, so I would not put something like number of pages into the summary table.

June 1was super tired/busy today but managed to read a few pages of 魔女の宅急便 at least! might also read a little bit of ナルト as well before bed (I tend to read that in ‘only look up a word if I really can’t get it from context’ style cos it’s my chill out manga so it’s way lower energy than a novel). First day done!
June 2 chapter 6 ナルト- 20 pages.
June 3 chapter 7 ナルト- 18 pages. Finished the first volume! And it’s a cliffhanger so I might be back in to update this later if I can’t help myself reading on…(update - I was correct, I ended up coming back and reading the next chapter (another 20 pages I think). However that chapter ended in a better stopping place so I might try to pick やがて君になる back up tomorrow.)

My Kobo e-reader says I’m 7% of the way in, but that’s misleading since the story begins at the 4% mark.
The progress is also misleading because I’ve actually read and looked up words for this beginning part previously, so today was just a re-read. The real test begins tomorrow, when I run out of “already read this part” material!

June 1
June 1st - so far, about 45 mins - 7 chapters of Chi’s Sweet Home - Vol 3 - it’s a fairly quick read, pretty low text, but reinforces some casual grammar points that I’ve been picking up.
Expecting to pick up my book (instead of manga) again tomorrow, but needed lower effort reading today - I still have a textbook chapter review to do. I just finished the first half of マジック・ツリーハウス 1 over the weekend - looking forward to seeing what’s next (especially since I don’t actually remember any plot of this one from the English - I expect it to be a tougher read).

2021-06-01 (day 1)
read 5 pages (p.122-126) of 氷菓.
Was procrastinating for hours before finally sitting down to read. I still have this irrational fear of not being good enough to understand the novel and trying to escape reading. But when I actually start reading it goes pretty well.
I had to look up 20 words in a dictionary (~4 words per page).
Tomorrow I’ll try to measure the time I spend on reading too.

Oh well, this thread is perfect 
I’ve fallen off the wagon big time on reading Japanese (these past few months, I’ve barely read at all), so this sounds like a good way to get back on track. There will probably be days when I read like…one page, but I will push myself to do at least 1-2 pages per day! Consistency is always my biggest battle, and beginning to read is often the hardest part.
I will start - right now!
Day 1: June 1st
What did I read?: よつばと！Vol 15, because I am supposed to be reading with the book club and I am behind
How much did I read?: 1 chapter (47 pages)
How long did it take me?: Um…20 min? (I forgot to look when I started 
)
Some Yotsuba reflections
Yotsuba has become a really pleasant reading experience for me over the years. When I started with Vol 1, it did not feel that way. …Actually, Vol 1 might have been the first real Japanese text I ever tried to read, now that I think about it. Fast forward to Vol 15, and I can now read it pretty comfortably most of the time, once I actually pick up the book. I could almost actually…try reading it without quick access to a dictionary? Like on a bus or train? :o Blasphemy! It was also the first series I could read well enough to actually laugh at in real time (vs. several minutes later when I finally finished looking things up xD). I’ve definitely grown with the series.
