Volume 8!!!

Page 4

いつものやつを もらおうか
いつも - always; usually; every time
の - “one”, I’ve forgotten the grammar term for this, but here I believe the の particle stands in for a noun
やつ - thing
を - direct object particle
もらおう - to receive; to take; to accept in volitional form
か - question particle (but here talking to herself)
“Shall I take the usual one?”

Page 5

あちらのひとにも おなじものを
あちらのひと - those people
に - to
も - also
おなじ - same
もの - thing
を - direct object particle
“And the same for those people too”

きょうも いいちょうし
きょうも - today as well
いい - good
ちょうし - 調子, def.3?: condition
“Today is also good” (Talking about the milk, but I’m not sure at all about the ちょうし here)

Page 7

…そろそろ つっこんでおくか
そろそろ - slowly / soon
つっこんで - 突っ込む, to cram, to crash into, etc, in て-form (?)
おく - 置く, to put; to place, etc
か - question particle
Translation: No idea at all!

その格好はなんだ
What is that character (you are dressed as)?

ぼくじょう… ぼくじょうマン!
Dairy-farm-man!

さっそく牛バスタオル 使ってるのか
さっそく- at once
牛 - cow
バスタオル - bath towel
使ってる - using
の - explanation particle (?)
か - question particle
“So [you] are using a cow bathtowel then?” (But where does さっそく fit in?)

使い方は 間違ってるかな
”I wonder if that is really the right way to use a bathtowel?”

はたして そうかな!?
はたして - 果たして, as expected / really
そう - so, really
かな!? - I wonder
“I wonder if you expected this?!” (???)

牧場マンは 何ができるんだ?
What can Dairy-man do? (What are his special powers?)

ぼくじょうマンは ぼくじょうができる ことができる
Dairy-man, can dairy, can do things…. (I suspect this isn’t the most grammatically correct Japanese here!)

ぼくじょうマン きゅうにゅうは いりませんかー
”Dairy-man! Do you need any milk?”

じゃあ1つ ください
“Well then, one [carton] please”

#6. to riposte; to retort; to quip
This is pretty common in Japan. 突っ込み and ぼけ

Basically, “Should I retort soon?”

スパイダーマン、スパイダーマン、ダズ・ワテヴァ・ア・スパイダー・キャン…

I also think this might be, “(I’ll have) the same as the people over there.”
Something similar to, “Whatever they’re having.”

Basically, yes. But you could be more literal and go for, “What’s with that getup/appearance?”

I think it’s implied that they bought it at the farm, so she’s using it at once, or without delay.

Not completely sure about the literal translation but, “That’s the wrong way to use it, you know?”

Farm-man can do whatever a farm can do. :stuck_out_tongue:

はい じゃあ しぼりましょう
Yes, well then, let’s squeeze {/milk}

ぎゅっ ぎゅっ - looks like start of ぎゅうにゅう, a milking song perhaps?

ごばーッ - ???

すごい出るな!
“Don’t do it too hard!”

はい バターに なりました (どうぞ)
Yes, it’s turned into butter (here you go)

え!? バターに なっちゃったの!?
Oh, no, it’s turned into butter has it?

おひるごはん なに?
What’s for lunch?

チャーハン
Fried rice

きょうは パラパラに できる?
“Today, are you making something crumbly?”

どうかな-
”I wonder…?”

And that’s all I have time for right now! I suspect I’ll fall quite far behind in this volume, but even just doing few pages now and then is great fun and feels very useful. Thanks again so much for all your help!

 Where did you get this from?

I imagine, an onomatopoeia for a lot of liquid coming out. :stuck_out_tongue:

“A lot came out!”

“Will it come out; Can you make it crumbly today?” (the rice)

Thank you so much again! :bowing_man:

Yeah, I think it’s “squeeze, squeeze, squirt” or something. Maybe misusing it, mind - according to this, ごばあ is for a gust of wind…

(Think the implication being, when he normally makes fried rice, it’s baked together into one big clump.)

Thank you too Belthazar! :bowing_man:

Thank you for asking the questions. Again, I would just be like, yeah, I get most of it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, time for some more よつば! Today’s the weekly book club day. :stuck_out_tongue: Later is 少女終末旅行. :bathtub:

I don’t know why, but this panel is so peaceful.

Page 16, I think. :open_mouth:
What’s with the:
なしいっぱいもらったからあげるね.
I understand she received a lot, so she’ll give some to よつば. But the なし?

I don’t know why, but this chapter felt a little weird, perhaps the silent parts, or less backgrounds?

It’s… uh… it’s because they’re pears.

Define “weird”?

Hah! I thought it was bread or something, and I just saw this:
nashi (Pyrus pyrifolia, esp. var. culta);
And I went, nope, don’t know what that is.

More unusual than anything else, I guess.

It didn’t feel like all the other chapters we’ve read.
It started similarly, but then it was like I was reading another chapter without noticing.
Perhaps there wasn’t really a theme across the whole chapter.
