I am reading わら一本の革命 (The one straw revolution). Goal is to read at least two pages per day. I also own (and read) the English version, which helps reading the Japanese version. I am not sure if this is a good strategy, though.
First time participating in a reading challenge!
I’ll mostly be reading manga that I’ve accumulated over my past few trips to Japan, including Jujutsu Kaisen (my absolute favourite) and Spy x Family (lots of N1 vocab here), and random articles from NHK (NHKニュース 速報・最新情報). Vocabulary is my weakest point so I’m excited to learn many new words through reading. Next year I’m moving to Japan for 6 months to study for N1
Wishing everyone luck with their goals
time passes so quickly, how is it autumn already thanks again to DIO-Berry for hosting and hello to new and old faces!
this is mostly to hold me accountable, i’m so bad at keeping up with some of the things i want to do when i don’t have to tell strangers on the internet about it
goals
i think this is the challenge i attempt march comes in like a lion! i’ve got 17 volumes, so we’ll see how far i get!
i’ve mentioned it here and there (on the forums, at least. …don’t look at my tumblr) but i’ve been playing the yakuza games over the past year and a half, and i’ve finally decided to play one (lost judgment) in japanese! for fun! i’m (as of writing this) up to chapter five and it’s going mostly okay, so we’ll see how that goes. lots of minigame menus and skill trees to read.
i tried to restart my english reading habit last time and while it sort of worked i…didn’t keep reading in the off month. so! let’s try this again. let’s try two books again, one a month. (i’m also doing a writing challenge so this might be tough)
usual other stuff, so an nhk article every weekday and an entry or two in aDoAJG << keeping up with this in the off month is a struggle
i’m trying to do translation practice, so i might make a note of where i’m at with that too. (this is taking the place of where bravely default was last challenge cos idk if i wanna do that anymore. lots of time not actually reading.)

I signed up for other challenges too, because I really want to burn myself out just go the extra mile and immerse in the tiny daily ways I can! If I have to choose just one to keep going, this will be it though!
Back again for my third reading challenge - been happy with my (admittedly, pretty slow) progress. Over the course of the last two challenges, I’ve managed to read:
The Human Japanese Intermediate App & the following SR material:
ジャム屋さん
聞き耳ラジオ
壁の穴
Sakura & Suzuki’s Long Distance Relationship
Human Japanese Intermediate Extra
This Challenge I’m continuing with reading SR stories & Grammar as well as trying to make my way through the free Tadoku graded readers. Will only be doing October & November

I’d love to join for my first reading challenge! I’ll probably mostly focus on easy news articles and whatever the ABBC is reading (currrently カードキャプターさくら1) since I’m still very new to reading
It’s the first time I join one of these challenges.
My goal is to have read キノの旅 #1 by the end of it. It’s about 240 pages long, the challenge will last ~60 days so if I manage to read 4 pages a day I’m good.
It should be doable given I already read that book and even if my reading has gotten a bit rusty lately (which is the reason I’m starting this challenge) my grammar has improved and I’ve been SRSing an N1 deck daily for a few months.
Oooh, that’s such a good approach. Maybe I’ll do the same – I’ll pick out a book I want to read and count how many daily pages I need to finish it by the end .
Maybe that way I won’t feel compelled to overdoing it
