Ok I had a look at the book, here is the breakdown of chapters:
Num pages
Prologue

Part 1 chapter 1
60
Part 1 chapter 2
68
Part 1 chapter 3
57
Part 1 chapter 4

Part 1 chapter 6
43
Part 2 chapter 1
47
Part 2 chapter 2

Week 9

Week 12
second half of chapter 3 + epilogue

This way we’re in the 30-50 pages per week target with the exception of week 5. The previous week is short so people who are worried about it can read ahead a bit? Or should I move part of chapter 3 to the previous week?
I actually really want to read this book… I read the first few pages and it seemed manageable for me to read though i’m not a very high level lol… Itll probs take me longer to read but does the book seem to get harder later on?
We’re only one week in so it’s a bit hard to say but there’s no reason it should get harder. Feel free to read at your own pace, comment or ask questions in the weekly threads etc. even if you get there later than the official schedule.
I feel like it’s still a bit early to say really but I quite like it so far. It’s a 恋愛ミステリー, so part mystery (finding the missing girlfriend) and part 恋愛 with discussion on dating and 婚活 (in Japan).
I would say the same thing! Additionally, I find the writing style really approachable. It’s not very flowery, but fairly straight forward in it’s prose.
Yes, I’m enjoying it too; I think it’s a book I probably wouldn’t have read if not for the book club, so that’s cool. I think if you are specifically a mystery fan looking for a mystery story you might feel like those parts are a bit too diluted down by the 恋愛 parts.
It’s time for week 4 where we’ll finish chapter 2. How is everyone doing? The general feeling seems to be that the difficulty is ok, but I’ll admit that the char count per page is fairly high so it can still take some time to go read through each week’s reading.
This week is the shortest so far with only 30 pages, BUT next week will be the longest at 57 pages (nearly double!) so feel free to read ahead.
