You may have been confused by the exceptional interval of 2 weeks between the end of the last book club reading and the start of this one. But the schedule table clearly says ‘Start’ in the header of the dates column.

Of course you may start your readings early if you wish to do so. But please make sure that you post your comments and questions only after the corresponding weekly thread has been published.

I just realized that I forgot to post a link to the first week, starting May 31st.

I hope you all have enjoyed the first week.

This week we finally meet Ms Komachi, the librarian.

Here’s week 3 for Tomoka, where all the characters of week 1 are appearing again.

We are arriving at the end of the first chapter where we see how Tomoka gets a new view regarding her current life and her future.

If you want to jump in and join our book club, now is the moment. With week 5 we are starting a new chapter and a new story, and I guess that only the librarian and her assistant will appear in all 4 chapters.

We are starting week 6, in which the narrator of chapter 2 meets the librarian. Once again he gets a surprising book recommendation from Ms Komachi.

In week #7 Ryou takes first steps towards the realization of his dream.

In week #8 we read the end of chapter 2, in which “one day” becomes “tomorrow”.

I haven’t been voting in the polls as it seemed ridiculous to write “I’m still reading but haven’t got to this part” when I haven’t even started. However I plan to start this week and power through!

Week 9 is the beginning of a new chapter and a new story. Natsumi isn´t quite happy with her job and private life after the birth of her little daughter.

Read 2 week’s worth in 3 days. It’s a start at least.

Week 10: Natsumi, too, gets a surprising book recommendation from Ms Komachi. In the office her successor has an interesting task for her.

Week 11: It’s time for Natsumi to take the initiative to change her professional life.

Week 12: We meet again with Mr Kiriyama from chapter 1.

In week 13 we start the 4th story in this book. Although there are little cameos of some characters from former chapters, the chapters are fairly independent. The only characters that appear in every chapter are the librarian and her assistant, and they are reintroduced in every chapter by the chapter’s narrator.

It looks like I forgot to make a post for week 14 here.

In week 15 Hiroya becomes a regular visitor of the library and gains more self confidence.

We are starting the last chapter of the book. Again somebody will consult the librarian, get a surprising book recommendation and will somehow change his life.

This week we are meeting again with a ‘supporting actor’ from chapter 2.
