I did it! Level 7 has been 0/0! It took longer than I thought (kinda dislike the huge radical counts every level). I think I may be doing too many things at once, I don’t want to overwhelm myself. The more I learn the more I wanna use my new knowledge and then I lose focus to go back to what I need to be doing (study+reviews).
Still, the streak is unbroken: 58 days! Just a little bit slowed down this week
8 days later, will slow down a lot from now since I’m pretty much caught up with where I got before. I studied radicals up to around level 10 though, so it’s easier to deal with unknown kanji during immersion.
Checking in for my level 4 progress, savoring this sweet 0/0 while I can before guru’ing 33 radicals and 14 kanji tonight, prompting another lessonpocalypse.
I’m getting the feeling that my vocab retention is starting to falter a bit. Had several guru’d vocab fall back to apprentice lately due to just drawing a complete blank during review… Might be from me going the speed demon route. May be time for a refresher via self study.
Right? They throw a lot of them at you. I have been looking at the future level radical list longingly knowing that soon it will wind down.
I think level 4 is where it peaks in terms of radical quantity, which is nice. It will all be over soon.
Level 5 is the peak in total lessons in a level at 197, after which there is a general downward trend. You also get more used to learning kanji as you go, so I feel like WK gets easier the further along I get:) (the only thing making it harder is that the number of visually similar kanji you know increases steadily…)
Thanks for all the encouragement! You’re all awesome! In the end, all that was needed to get here is a bit of persistence and effort, applied over a lo-o-ong time. I’m sure everyone will get there if you keep at it!
Thank you!
Wow, that sounds awesome! Good luck!
That’s just the beginning! Starting around 40s there are maybe 2-3 radicals per level, sometimes even none at all. That’s how the “fast levels” were born – in them, you can learn enough kanji to level up right after the level starts, so levels are doable in just ~3.5 days if you want to (although I’d say it’s not advisable unless you really want to go that fast – the amount of reviews would be pretty demotivating to most people). The overall number of items also goes down a bit in the later levels: it gets to around 120-140 items instead of ~160-200 that you get in the earlier levels.
A blessed time, I’m looking forward to it. Although I don’t know if I’m actually going to go fast I mean, with fewer items, you’re bound to level up a little quicker anyway, provided you keep your pace. Did you do the fast levels fast? If so, how was your experience? But you’re probably going to make a lv. 60 post anyway, right?
There’s a poll in the Heaven and Reality subforums from my last run where you can get some stats as to what people did when it comes to speeding up or slowing down during those final 20 levels.
I think most people did speed up, but some just kept a steady pace. Some even slowed down a bit due to the amount of leeches you’ve accumulated throughout all levels at that point.
You’ll just have to adjust to your own situation I feel. Mostly regarding how much time you have to spend on WK reviews on a single day. Going fast means big increases in review numbers after all. Expect 250-350 á day or more some days. ^^; Not everyone’s cup of tea.
@BadWeather Congrats on reaching level 60 – your perseverance is admirable and it paid off!
Now would be the perfect time to treat yourself to some cake (provided you like cake in the first place).
