Ohh, interesting. I wonder why the author chose to use the more complex version in the book.
I wish I knew, there are a lot of obscure kanji and non simplified kanji this book. I ran into this word the other day 引き攣る (ひきつる). I asked my Japanese friends and they had never even seen the kanji, so I was confused why the author chose to use it.

Wow that’s a strange one. I wouldn’t have thought of that reading at all.
This one was recently mentioned on the ‘kanji wordsderived from other kanji’ thread, but still a tough one, I think
My own submissions (and since we’re short on writing challenges, that is what I’ll submit). They come from a children’s book written by an American woman in the 1930’s, translated to Japanese, about a couple of Frysian (northern Netherlands) kids going on a school ice skating trip.

Woah! That’s awesome! If you put a “。” at the end it turns into more normal English, but it’s still broken. Can’t really explain it though O_O

Some of them might be pretty easy (especially compared to some of the other submissions), but I figured some Joyo Kanji won’t hurt (especially for the writing challenge).

By the way, everybody, I haven’t proofread any of these (mostly because I can’t read most of them). So I am trusting everybody checked they’re own sentences. If you have time to look them over one more time to make sure there were no mistakes, I will make sure the correct versions get added to the quiz. I just copy and pasted all of the sentences and solutions to a word document. And I’ll be copy and pasting them into a sporcle quiz.

I think this one is a bit easier; not sure how common this reading is
