I’ve read every day in the challenge so far. I’m oddly motivated to read Jam Maker (Satori) every day because it means I can add another to my home thread calendar.

It’s also fun to see what else everyone is up to!

今日は二度ポーストした。でも、漫画が良く読みました。今日はチェンソーマン第14巻が発売中になりましたからずーっと読んだ。それとその着せ替え人形は恋する第11巻も読みました。後で多分FFVIIをプレイするかしら。ところが2巻を読んだから結構だろうと思う。

Like every day I read around 10 pages of ボッコちゃん which is not that interesting but I should be done with it in 2 weeks.
I read some stories in manga magazines and played some Ciel no Surge DX but nothing really happened. But at least I have fairies for all four elements now, which should make restoring イオン memory much smoother. She still hasn’t finished the outfit I asked her to make some days ago.

and i’ve now finished jjk vol 2! i think the gojou/jougo fight being fairly light on dialogue helped, but there were also a few info dump pages so maybe it all balances out in the end.

words that stood out: 名作 (めいさく, masterpiece), 付与 (grant, bestowal, conferment; was on a two page spread like five times) and 異論 (objection; to add to the other two words for objection i’ve come across 異存 and, ofc, 異議あり！)

JJK usually flips between lore and fights, so for every 2 pages of lore you get 6 pages of fighting roughly. I just read volumes 7-22 last week and I am absolutely in love with it. Volume 8 onward is a wild ride!

Finally started よつばと! today. Yotsuba is such a cutie, I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve seen a looot of anime with kids and babies so I’m a little familiar with their vocab.

I definitely notice some mild and steady progress in reading, have to thank ルリドラゴン book club for that!

Can’t wait to read more. I finished 6 pages today, but I can see that it’s starting to get dialogue heavy, so good luck to myself

Today I did not have so much time to read, but I didn’t want to skip a day already. So I squeezed in a few pages in.

And I saw that some people in this challenge always have “words of the day” or similar. I like the idea, so I want to try to pick two or three new words a day. In hopes that I will remember them even better

Reading too hard on this one feels sleepy

Words of the day

• サンマ(.) = a Pacific saury, a kind of fish. I failed to remember this one…
• へんてこ = odd; strange = 変(へん)
• 訥々(とつとつ) = stammering (speech); hesitating to say, word cutting in the middle along. Has Furigana.
• 雅号(がごう) = pseudonym; pen name. First Kanji from 雅(みやび) or 優雅(ゆうが).
• 五線紙(ごせんし) = a music score paper. 五線(ごせん) = five-line staff, for music notation.
• 手(て)すさび = pastime; diversion = 手遊(てすさ)び. From the verb, 遊(すさ)ぶ.
• 躁病(そうびょう) = mania. Has Furigana. Opposite is 鬱病(うつびょう) = depression. Having both alternately is 躁鬱病(そううつびょう) = bipolar disorder. (And IME always has a version of both うつ and 鬱(うつ).)
• 昏冥(こんめい) = darkness; gloom. Has Furigana. Second Kanji is from 冥土(めいど), which is dark even if it sounds bright (明(めい)).
• 撲滅(ぼくめつ) = eradication; extermination. First Kanji from 打撲(だぼく) or 撲殺(ぼくさつ), but now doesn’t involve physical hitting.
• 毀誉褒貶(きよほうへん) = praise and censure; criticisms. Has Furigana. Kanji from 名誉毀損(めいよきそん) + 褒(ほ)める + 貶(けな)す. First Kanji also in 毀(こわ)れる / 毀(こぼ)れる. Maybe Onyomi of the last Kanji is pretty rare otherwise.
• 樹海(じゅかい) = expanse of dense woodland
• 蔵書(ぞうしょ) = a collection of books
• 趣旨(しゅし) = the gist; the aim
• 腸(はらわた) = bowels; viscera. Has Furigana. わた is also viscera, and 腹(はら) is stomach.

Finished the first chapter of 神去なあなあ日常 and I must say the book is nothing like I expected. I was expecting a calm book with interesting forestry descriptions in beautiful nature, and sure, there’s that too. But I’ve chuckled so many times at so many absurd situations in this chapter. This is a small village full of interesting characters, and the constantly surprised eye of our narrator adds to the humour. Very much looking forward to the next chapters.

I finished reading volume 1 of やがて君になる 佐伯沙弥香について today during my lunch break. I really liked the ending in this one, I thought it was the perfect way to wrap up the story. I’m not sure if I will jump into volume 2 straight away. From what I hear, its kind of a retelling of the manga but just from Sayaka’s perspective. I’m sure that means there will be some new stuff but I did read the manga less than a year ago so it might not exactly be exciting to “reread” the events of that story so soon. I might pick up a shorter novel in the mean time and come back to vol2 in a month or two but I’m indecisive so who knows
