And now Week 2 has officially started:
It’s the journey, not the destination:
There and back again:
Final Fantasy 4 is 35 years old today! It was originally released on July 19 1991.
I’m not old, you’re old!

You got me with that link, not gonna lie.
IIRC you said something like 10 or so weeks was your expectation for this club? Now that you’ve posted 7 is that looking about right?
I think so. I checked multiple walkthroughs and they all have 4 sections left after where we are at the end of week 7, so unless one of these sections is really long and needs to be broken down we’re aiming towards 11 weeks.
I was really busy this past month so I haven’t had the time to play ahead too much, but I should be less busy now so hopefully I’ll have a definitive schedule soon and we can set the FF5 start date.
Actually I think it’s going to be 10 weeks. Which is fun since it means that the last thread for FF4 is going to be posted almost exactly one year after the start of this club.
So cool! Those “2-3 years before we start FFX” are going to be gone in no time. Which is a bit scary too.
More importantly, we need the FFIX remake to happen before we get there.
Have you ever experienced intense hatred for a door before? Or maybe a wall?
People are disappearing slowly, how many will make it to the end…
Number of people playing along per week:
| Week | # |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | 28 |
| Week 2 | 19 |
| Week 3 | 15 |
| Week 4 | 15 |
| Week 5 | 14 |
| Week 6 | 13 |
| Week 7 | 10 |
| Week 8 | 7 |
I wonder if some of the people dropping off have any comments?
There’s especially a big drop after week 1. Language too hard I’m guessing?
What about the other weeks? Pace too fast? Game not interesting enough? Life happened?
I’m not sure the two most recent weeks are accurate. If people are slightly behind they may not vote until they catch up. Especially for the current week (I forgot to vote until just now). Weeks 3-6 at least have been very steady.
I’m still curious like you though.
In my case, life happened, combined with not being used to thinking about strategy in this type of turn-based game and stress about spells… All unnecessary, since the game is rather forgiving, but I am a stress puppy.
And today, I’m actually doing some catching up on my FF1 playthrough! At long last!
I never even made it through FF1!
Yeah, I’m a bit behind (about halfway through week 6) so I haven’t voted for the last two weeks yet. This weekend I’m free, though, so I’m hoping to catch up.
