But now I find I can’t quite read the rest (I’ve spent much of Yotsuba ignoring these scribbled non-bubble sentences), is it… 状態いりなこれ? (don’t put it in in this condition…?). Thanks again for any help you can offer here!

Because it’s handwritten, the two いs don’t look quite the same.
状態いいなこれ = これは状態がいいですね but more casual.

Should we have a poll for participation?
I’d say no. Even if a thousand people clicked on “yes, I’m reading along”, what difference does it make to the thread? For most of the past few volumes it’s been the same good and wonderful people posting; if others are reading along and don’t wish to post, I don’t see how a poll will encourage their participation.
But, having said that, I know everyone on WK loves polls - so you never know!
