Thanks for the thoughtful and thorough reply. I’m happy I was on the right track with switching voiced/unvoiced consonants and somewhat-clumsily squishing the sentence into a recognisable form.
Reading Barakamon is on my bucket list, so becoming more familiar with reading dialect is a skill I’d like to improve.
The dialect in Barakamon looks a lot easier to read than this one. It’s also quite different so I’m not sure it’s worth putting off if that’s what’s holding you back.
Just making my way through the pruning explanations now, the warning was useful thanks @NicoleIsEnough! I managed through most of it by imagining country folk slurring words, but some things were too specific – so Kei’s translation a couple of pages further really helped
I love that everything is almost exactly the same between the two versions
It’s up to you though - I prefer to close them at the end of the week, because I want to capture who was actively participating during that week, but others keep them open throughout the run or even indefinitely so that anybody reading along afterwards can indicate their participation.
I do always keep the “I finished the volume!” polls open forever though, because that’s the prize for anybody reaching the end (as well as actually finishing the book, haha)
