Hey all!I just got back from a trip to Japan. :smiley:

Anyway, while I was there, I decided to pick up a book of crosswords, for a different kind of practice, and boy is it kinda tricky. I was thinking maybe we could make it a group effort, and everyone could pitch in and solve them together.

Aww, I should have gotten that. Didn’t even spot the オーストラリア in my first glance across the clues. :stuck_out_tongue:

Whew, this is going almost too fast for me to keep up.

Huh. Does an apple a day keep the doctor away in Japanese too?

Is 34-across perhaps エル? As in, LDK? Then if 35-across is カジ, that’d make 34-down エンカ. Dunno if I’m grasping at straws, though.

I’m also impressed you knew トソ. All I could think of was アマザケ, and that certainly didn’t fit.

Well, I couldn’t remember the name at first. I only remembered that they drink some plant-based alcohol for good-luck on new year’s eve.

Yeah, I’m not doing great myself. I’ve never even gotten the hang of Japanese-Japanese dictionaries, and this is pretty much the same except we only get the definitions, not the words. :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh, perfect. I was literally just now mulling over 2-across, and I completely failed to spot the connection between the listed items.
