Chapters are usually 8-16k characters, but today there was a super long one. It took forever to finish.
Spoiler thoughts: The match of whom [ローゼマイン vs ハンネローレ] goes where [エレンフェスト vs ダンケルフェルガー] took place and so there was a lot of action. But also blooming romance I feel like there has been a new romantic revelation every volume recently, I’m very happy about that.
Before I go making my own post that is unnecessary, is there a thread which people can go to for general translation help? For instance: I’m quite stuck parsing out this (probably simple) sentence, since it appears like a noun modifying clause but using a grammar point that, with how I’m familiar with it, wouldn’t be right there…
Anyway is there a thread for such random, occasional translation questions?
Making some good progress on すみっコぐらし, currently about 2/3 through the first story. It’s quite cute, about a girl who doesn’t really have friends at school so sits in the corner and imagines these little animal like things who try to cheer her up. Don’t have much reading time today, but hoping to push through and finish this first story off tomorrow.
Might pick up 着せ替え人形 when I finish Frieren and see if want to keep going on that for a bit… or maybe I’ll start another vol 1 of something random, idk.
Blue Lock vol 12-13:
These manga took most most of my day but it is so exciting to read. I picked it up after seeing the blue lock movie about Nagi.
Hapiness vol 4-5
The cliffhangers in this manga is insane and very fast read. I am always excited to move on to the next volume after each one. For some reason I found yotubato harder than this.I also read my first omakase from the author.
But the font was very hard to read . Very writteny. Today’s Page count: 768
I wanted to try something new today, so I decided to start reading the Grisaia trilogi VNs on Switch. I read a Japanese sentence, see what I understand, switch to English to check my understanding, back to Japanese to re-read the sentence, rinse and repeat. I really like this way of reading. The VNs are long, but they are good reading practice. Should be fun!
In this volume both the crown prince and the king have met Rozemyne, and I could be wrong, but it seems like they trust her to some degree.
Hannelore’s older brother Lestirauto suddenly proposing to Rozemyne and forcing the match of games on them to decide whether Rozemyne is going to marry him or Hannelore marrying Vilfriet. In the end of the match, Hannelore decides to leave the home field and take Vilfriet’s hand, literally. Seems like she is developing feelings for him. I’m thinking it’d be fun if they got together and let Rozemyne be free to marry someone else. Either the young prince or Ferdinand(?) … I’m rooting for young prince to confess his feelings, at least.
Rozemyne having a crazy overflow of magic in these dire times of magic deficiency across the country. Her image of being a saint is increasing by each incident. Not only just that, but even the image of her being a goddess! Everyone’s shedding a tear thinking “Bless her merciful heart”. She’s just being a good thoughtful kid!
I did not touch grass today. I’ll become a hikikomori at this rate (in my free time that is, I do have a full time job). To be honest, I’m also a bit worried I’m not getting enough sun since I’m living in an apartment with low amounts of sun shining through. Winter depression yabai kamo, konkai wa
offtop but watched random Cure Dolly’s videos yesterday and from there got the idea of Entering Japanese Rooms In VRChat, tried that and had a but of a culture shock from contactiong with a native for the first time and a bit meltdown when I got asked some random easy stuff and just trying to keep up with at least anything is mind-boggling. But it was fun! didn’t really have the intention of learning to speak properly when started to learn intensively (just wanted to read some manga and watch some anime in original) but now thinking Why Not Try This Thing Also
Started a new kid’s book, 泣き虫スマッシュ! がけっぷちのバドミントンペア、はじまる!? | L22, about badminton. One thing I find you often get in books that you find a bit less of in other mediums is interiority as characters think to themselves or describe scenes (for obvious reasons in visual works). So practicing that is good. Also I frankly love instant lookups… wish I could get instant lookups and being able to scribble notes on the page though…
First week (and a bit) of the off month but keeping going with the challenge.
I had two days where I was exhausted and couldn’t focus, but otherwise went well. I was travelling which made it slightly easier.
I’ve now read ahead with ウスズミの果て (finishing the first volume) and 変な家 - I haven’t finished it yet but suspect I might soon. I was down to 7 clubs, but with 2 more series starting new volumes today I’m back up to 9. Plan is to finish another 1-2 before the next volume of シャドウハウス is out, and the next BBC starts.
