September 5th!
Its been a while since I last read this, but I started chapter 5 of volume 2 of the Orange Light Novel today. I read about 3 pages, which isn’t bad since I’m a bit out of the habit of reading prose!
September 6th!
Chapter 7 of ウスズミの果て today - it was MUCH easier to read than the previous chapter, thankfully! I really enjoyed this chapter, so I’m looking forward to reading the final one from this volume next week.
September 7th!
I started reading カードキャプターさくら with the ABBC today, but I got a bit overexcited and read the first 3 and a bit weeks worth of the schedule.
September 8th!
In for a penny, in for a pound - I figured since I’d done such a terrible job of reading with the club and wouldn’t be able to re-join with the group for a few weeks, I may as well finish the chapter and rejoin at the start of Chapter 2
It looks like the rest of 時をかける少女 is just some short stories (i guess I’ll read them later for full completion), and that means that I’ve read my first novel in japanese! yay!
I’m glad that I’ve randomly decided to participate in that challenge and I do not wish to let that habit of small daily reading go away, although now the Mountain I Have To Climb To Get Proficient after actually reading the novel feels higher that before this challenge, but daily progress is key :')
Had to stay at home so I spent most of the day reading. I reached the epilogue.
Book thoughts: It’s one thing after another in this series. I’m happy we got to see interaction with Ferdinand again. I wonder what Vilfriet’s reaction was about when Ferdinand was checking Rozemyne’s health as usual. And then there was Dietrinde(?)'s ridiculous appearance and effort of being a show-off. She’s so annoying I feel so bad for Ferdinand, having to deal with her. Meanwhile, Rozemyne is getting better at communication and making herself understood so there are no room for misunderstandings, even scolding the adults for skimming around topics. I admire that.
Another chapter of スマッシュ. Kids books are quite enjoyable I have to say because they’re pretty clear and direct with stuff about feelings. MC was being a huge brat but at least she realised it (also she’s, like, 11 or whatever).
I intended to finish off フレーレン4 but didn’t manage it, should be able to do it today.
I admire your Honzuki binge reading! You’ve caught to where I left off a few months ago so I feel like I should pick the series back up soon haha. I’m really enjoying reading your updates in this thread.
The epilogue took forever to finish. Book spoiler: Ferdinand saying he dedicated his name to Veronica, that has to be a lie, right? I can’t with Dietlinde(?), she’s completely living in her own delusional world. Seems like we got ourselves a spy in her clique of servants, tho. That’s interesting. Aurelia’s younger sister. Foreshadowing sabotage and betrayal?

Read a bit of Cardcaptor Sakura and a little story called 時の女神, the ending made me do The Rock Bassboosted Face Expression
basically a guy sees some girl in white skirt that smiles to him and thinks wow so beautiful…
then 10 years later he’s going on a date with his gf and sees the girl in a white skirt as young as before smiling to him and forgets everything thinking damn… where does she know me from… and forget about his gf competely
then 10 years later he’s a usual lonely salaryman that waits and waits for a girl in a white skirt to appear and then boom! she appears, and long story short they’re getting engaged, have a daughter etc also at some point she encloses to him that she’s kind of a goddess of time
then 10 years later she dies of some strange disease (still as young though)
then 10 years later he sees her one last time (she went into the future once to check up on him) and while having dinner daughter brings up a schoolboy that she fell in love with

Decided to check on some beginner VNs and to see how smooth it would go with jpt-breader, downloaded Midori no Umi, lots of lookups still but the extension is great, read some 1700 symbols
A thankfully action-heavy chapter of だん飯 which was relatively easy to get through.
Finished フリーレン4. Annoyingly I still feel this series is a bit of a challenge, maybe a bit moreso than Dungeon Meshi at times because the dialogue is a bit more vague and the panelling isn’t as good (as I’ve noted before).
Not sure where I’m headed next, might read an easy manga vol 1. I have 普通の軽音部3 and the latest 今日から幼馴染 lined up…
3000 characters from Island today. I wonder how much I have left! I have been reading this VN for 6 months now… Probably have a month or more left. At least I’m having fun with it!
What in the holy frick was this chapter It was hilarious, that much I can say.
Chapter thoughts
The girl リュールラディ, with the metaphorical rose-tinted shoujo manga filtered glasses on, happens to observe Ferdinand and Rozemyne interaction which includes pinching cheeks as punishment, watery eyes looking up at the other person, and soft head pats with tender smiles as they part ways. So of course this girl リュールラディ goes dokidoki and thinks “omg, love is in the air !!”. And when she’s talking with one of Rozemyne’s personal attendants about this, the attendant is like “if you were to ask the other attendants, whatever feeling is between Ferdinand and Rozemyne, they’d say it’s not love”… So that must mean they’ve talked about it amongst themselves?? I thought me as a fan/reader was the only one looking at them like that, but seems like the characters are not completely blind to Ferdinand and Rozemyne’s special relationship. Meanwhile Rozemyne is absolutely not interested in romance. To her, Ferdinand is as precious as family, after all, haha.
1 chapter ダン飯12. I forgot yesterday was Thursday and accidentally read a chapter, but whatever. Will just swap it with tomorrow’s mandatory reading slot.
