I didn’t really understand today’s seasons.

JoJolands was interesting though! This chapter isn’t very text heavy and I only didn’t know a few words, so that was nice. Also I suspect the cat is not a cat or at the very least it’s a stand user. I’m really hoping Rohan uses Heaven’s Door on it. I think too that the diamond is one of those physical stands like Boingo’s book or the cable tower in Part 4. I also appreciated the minor touches like Rohan having a bunch of Bakin photos on his ipad with no screen lock and that Izumi takes care of Bakin when he travels.

Not sure I had weird dreams, but I did have weird sleep and felt so crusty allergy-wise when I woke up. I’m not sure if Ultra Jump had a bunch of warehouse dust on it or what because I haven’t kept my windows open.

Also I’m wondering if JJLz will have 1-2 more chapters because the last one was about 50 pages I think and the first was about 70, so it should be fairly close to the first volume now. Also it seems like Crazy Diamond’s Demonic Heartbreak is wrapping up completely in 2 more chapters. I can’t say I’m sad to see it go. The logic of it frankly didn’t fit with the Parts before or after although I did enjoy the new Dio illustrations. It’s getting a novel too, so idk if that’ll be the same plot or a continuation. I wonder if Araki’s cover illustration is to fit in with the trend for most (all??) of the other novels or to slight the other mangaka for trying to overwrite the canon plot.

My order with 気になってる人が男じゃなかった shipped today! Still too soon for an estimate of when it’ll arrive, but I’m excited.

• アタック!! vol 8. I think I finally have block out vs shut out down. In a block out, the ball hits the block and goes out, and it’s the attacking team’s point. In a shut out, the ball hits the block and goes in, and it’s the defending team’s point. They both sound like the same thing to me so I’ve been having trouble lol
• 12 pages of 四畳半神話大系, leaving off on pg 66. Caught up with this week’s reading!
• 10 pages of 透き通った風が吹いて, leaving off on pg 82. I feel like this has gotten easier to read. It took me less than 40 minutes to read those 10 pages. I feel like I can finish this if not this month, then next month.

finally finished the first part of case three (why is it so long???)! with both shi-long and meekins turning up things slowed down a bit cos they both have very particular speech patterns but i managed. meekins uses 本官(ほんかん) as his personal pronoun which is fun (and gumshoe uses 自分(じぶん) which was unexpected). lots more words i didn’t know this time round, but still having a lot of fun, and if nothing else between this and ai somnium files i think i’m finally on the way to understanding さっぱり

words that stood out: 横暴(おうぼう) (violence, high-handedness, tyranny), 追跡(ついせき) (chase, tracking, following up), 脛(すね) (shin) as part of the phrase 脛(すね)に傷持(きずも)つ (to have a guilty conscience) and 小(こ) meaning roughly or about (as in 小一時間(こいちじかん)).

Finally read the 3rd episode from The Jam Maker on Satori Reader. It’s been on hold for such a long time I thought I might drop it.

this was super difficult to read because the episode had too many new words (such as plants, herbs, ingredients).

I couldn’t note down any words because I was reading on mob. I think I might have to re-read the chapter again tomorrow.

Words of the day

• ぼーっと(.) = (on-mim) in a daze; absent-mindedly
• ボウル(.) = a bowl. Similar sounding to ボール (= ball).
• タイムリー = well-timed; being just at the right time. It’s not 几帳面(きちょうめん). (Or I confused the English, timely, as well.)
• エトセトラ(.) = et cetera; etc.
• ありがち(.) = frequent; such example frequently happens
• いたちごっこ = going round in circles; pointless chasing. 鼬(いたち) is a weasel.
• もつれる(.) = to get entangled
• 焼(や)き立(た)て = freshly made. What is standing is the smoke (煙(けむり)).
• 満足(まんぞく)のいく = pleasing; gratifying. Probably from 満足(まんぞく)が行(い)く.
• 世話(せわ)の焼(や)ける = needing care. Probably from 世話(せわ)が焼(や)ける / 世話(せわ)を焼(や)く.
• 聴衆(ちょうしゅう) = audience. There is also 観衆(かんしゅう) counterpart, as well as 観客(かんきゃく) and ギャラリー.
• 愛想(あいそ)を尽(つ)かす = to be disgusted. 愛想(あいそ) got used up. And そ got shortened.
• 曇天(どんてん) = cloudy sky. Related words would simply be 曇(くも)り.
• 序奏(じょそう) = prelude
• 変奏曲(へんそうきょく) = variations. Regarding キラキラ光(ひか)る夜空(よぞら)の星(ほし)よ in context.
• 謝肉祭(しゃにくさい) = Carnival (festival held before Lent). I don’t really know about events, but thinking of mere festival-like. 動物(どうぶつ)の謝肉祭(しゃにくさい) in context.
• 上層部(じょうそうぶ) = higher ups
• 塩気(しおけ) = saltiness. Like 塩味(えんみ) / 塩味(しおあじ).
• 差配(さはい) = management; conduct of business
• 増築(ぞうちく) = annex to the main building
• 悪戦苦闘(あくせんくとう) = desperate fight; fighting against heavy odds

I did not have so much to say about what I was reading, so I thought it would be better to only make one post per week or every few days. But I updated what I read and thoughts on it (if I had any) in a notepad everyday.

I finally finished Ryza and therefore should have more time for reading again. But still I was only able to read for about 16 minutes. But I guess better than not at all
So I still have not finished last weeks scenes of the book club

4月19日 (水)

名探偵コナン vol. 1 (p. 143 → p. 149)
I am still in the chapter I started last time.

999 (end of scene 6 → beginning of scene 7. ~9m30s)
After about 1m30s I finished scene 6 and therefore the scenes from last weeks bookclub part. Yay.
I have to check again, but I think it took me about 4h?
And then I read further 8 min of scene 7.

A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar (p.38 → p.44)
Finally finished the entry for honorific and humble expressions (still in the characteristics of Japanese Grammar section). I am way behind the current book club assignment.
I still have the hope that one day I will catch up hehe

After reading the first chapter awhile ago (and struggling in doing so), I wanted to check weather the reading already feels somewhat easier now.
And yes, it is easier than it was. But I am still not at the point where I can just comfortably lay back and read this book. Not that I really expected that. ^^;

Not much reading today. I’m a little bit behind for the dictionary club (two entries to be exact). I would have read more today, but I’m carefully checking in with myself, since the point is to intensively read about the grammar points to deepen my knowledge. So reading less is usually better.

Missed - but you know what I DID do is finally set up the new laptop I bought 6 months ago I wish that time frame was an exaggeration. I finally have a fully-functioning “E” key, it’s wonderful Also went to see my cousin’s musical and got home super late, so I didn’t have time to read in the evening either.

I feel like I’ve started to read much more…loosely than I have in the past lol, like I feel like I’ve been more inclined to just go with my intuition of what the word probably vaguely means vs. looking up everything when I can’t remember the exact definition. I don’t know if this is good or bad in terms of learning, but I suppose it is more akin to how I would read in English so I think I’ll count it as good lol
