I’m excited to join another one of these! I didn’t think the last one I tried was making much of a difference in my daily reading habits, but then I immediately started slacking as soon as February ended, so I guess it was more motivating than I thought .

= Japanese
= Japanese and Spanish
This time, I’m going to try to read in Spanish every single day as well! I have a pretty easy YA book, Wonder (La lección de August) by R. J. Palacio, which I just checked out of the library. It’s written with a fair amount of first person present tense, with very everyday vocabulary and very short chapters, so it shouldn’t be too hard for me to read at least a few pages every day.
As far as Japanese goes, my main priority is translating the Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling recaps (and other post-match comments and press conferences and other stuff). This kept me so busy in March, I ended up falling pretty far behind with the 大海原と大海原 volume 3 book club .
So that’s my other goal! I would love to catch up more on the book club. I don’t think it’s possible for me to finish the book in time, but I can hopefully at least make up some ground.
I typically post about my reading in my study log and the pro wrestling thread and not here, though these challenge threads are far more popular than either of those, haha!
Exciting! I’ve been eyeing this up the past few weeks! Will join this round for sure
I have a bunch of manga lying around (among which my pride and joy: the complete 50 volume set of the original Crayon Shinchan lol) and I am hoping to polish off a lot of them. Plus my regular book club reading of course!
EDIT: Welp! It was going well enough until corona hit. After that I spent a few weeks catching up on my SRSs and other duties. It’s quite surprising how bloody tired corona makes you, even when you don’t feel too ill otherwise.
Very excited to join this time! I have collected several manga from the Bookwalker freebies, and I also may have bought a few too many books than I could possibly find time to read (I have started and had to pause at least two), so I’m looking forward to lowering my 積ん読 pile a little (who am I kidding? I’m sure to buy/get more in the meantime). Also participating in two (soon to be three) book clubs here, but I’ll try to make this thread about reading outside of book clubs if possible.

Hiiii~
I’m definitely joining. I’ve been trying to increase my input lately so having buddies and public obligation will help a ton.
Also, I’ve entered lots of book clubs yet fallen behind schedule in every single one of them so I have plenty of stuff to read and catch up to. I guess this will be my main objective.
不可解なぼくのすべてを
情勢:第2巻まで完全
My first big boy read without furigana. There are only 5 volumes, so I’m extra motivated to read it all since the end is nigh even though I just started. Really into the book so far. Some more thorough impressions
夜カフェ
A BOOK, well it’s a 青い鳥文庫の説明 аt that nonetheless still lotsa scary text. It’s fun to scan through yet it is so high above my level that I’m mostly skipping stuff.
デスノート
Really demanding manga that coincidentally also has a mockingly small typefont, the smallest out of all of my books. Going through the first volume agonizingly slowly, definitely above my skill level so I’m in increased insufficient comprehension tolerance™ mode. Dropped it for a moment.
よつばと!
Objectively the best read I ever had. Lighthearted and incredibly fun. I can manage it without frequent dictionary lookups just by the skin of my teeth.
第1巻完了しつつ次巻が延期しております
Book clubs
Books I read on a schedule a few chapters every weekend.
三ツ星カラーズ
うんこ!
第1巻完全☆
それでも歩は寄せてくる
My first manga ever. I had plans to start reading it the last summer however it never came true. Incidentally caught up to the book club during this challenge and am now on schedule.
第4巻まで完全!
I’ll join the spring challenge too. I didn’t post much in the winter challenge, but I read every day. I’ve been reading every day since then too, although there was one day when it was late and I was tired so I only did a single page.
I finished ビブリア古書堂の事件手帖 volume 1, which I read using the Tsubasa Bunko version with furigana. I borrowed the light novel edition of volume 2 from the library, figuring if I wasn’t comfortable without furigana I’d just give it back. But it’s been fine, and I’m just past the halfway point now. I have a few things sitting on my shelf waiting for me to finish this.
During the break I read three and a half volumes of からかい上手高木. Bringing me up to where the book club is at.
Still playing Animal Crossing a little everyday. Just purchased the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion pass for the additional Mario Kart tracks, which means Animal Crossing DLC as well.
I see it’s time to jump back on the reading challenge train! With the completion of my last assignment for the term last night and only forty pages of 銭天堂 left to go, I’m nearly ready for a fresh start with a new book.
Books I’m reading this time
銭天堂 (finished 8th of April)
君ノ声 (finished 17th of April)
かがみの孤城 (6%)
世界から猫が消えたなら?(if I ever feel like finishing a shorter book)
Count me in! The Winter challenge was so much fun.
I’m going to be carrying on with my bookclub reading, and also Yotsuba. @windupbird Thank you so much for organizing this, and for the calendars!

What I'm Reading
I’m mostly going to be reading the books from the various bookclubs I am in -
Teasing Master Takagi-san
Mitsuboshi Colors
Happiness
Yoru Cafe
As well as reading Yotsuba and playing some Pokemon Legends: Arceus
I’m joining in again! I always love these challenges but am also always terrible at actually updating my home post so we will see how this one goes
Goals
I’m going to be moving job pretty soon & expect to be pretty busy with that so not going to go wild with the goals this time. I’m currently half way through reading すべてがfになる which I’m enjoying so I will probably read the next volumes in that series once I’m done (not sure if I can catch up to the bookclub here by the time they get to vol 4 but will see! ). Will also be playing more games and reading more manga on the side!
Count me in
Currently I’m reading 夜カフェ. Planned on reading it with the book club, but I read a bit ahead already. After finishing volume 1 I’ll either buy the second volume or I will read the second volume of ふしぎ駄菓子屋 銭天堂 I think. Anyways, I have more than enough books and light novels lying around. May as well work on decreasing that pile a little (so that I can buy more books).
Thanks for making the new thread again @windupbird
Since I won’t be updating my main thread I won’t be using the super-nice calendar checkboxes xD But I wanted to share with you what I will be reading for this challenge (probably).
I started reading this in March and I’m now at 43% of the novel. It is really hard, but it is doable since I’m combining it with watching the anime (first watching a few episodes, then reading up to that point).
I started kino no tabi in Februari and I’m now at 38%. I love that it’s really episodic so I can pause reading this after every chapter. I don’t know if I will be able to read this, since I’ve got too much to read xD
美少年探偵団 1
This will be the read of the Minimersion bookclub next month! I’m really looking forward to reading this
I plan to keep up with both the absolute beginner and beginner book clubs. If I finish the part of the week for both of those (probably at most 1 day a week, unless magic happens), then I’ll read some Teasing Master Takagi-san.
Yay! A new victim …erm… book club member! Looking forward to seeing you catch up in the past books’ threads Please feel free to comment with your speculations, that’s so much fun!
For this challenge, I’m in again! I will keep track of my progress in my own thread and will link it from here with each of my (not-so-frequent) status posts, so stay tuned!
Current reading plans:
I’m currently reading 沖で待つ but I don’t expect to be able to finish it before the challenge starts, so there might be a little bit of it left over
I recently read the first chapter of 雲をつかむ話 for a reading circle and it was off to a very interesting start, so I will probably continue.
I still have my ongoing 大聖堂 (Japanese+English) with my Japanese friend. There was a bit of a disruption recently but I’m still hoping that he will pick it back up.
When we read 人間失格 somebody mentioned that it’s similar to Camus’ L’Étranger, so I decided to maybe give that one a try (in French). Then a (German) friend said she’d be interested in reading it as well, but in Japanese, so we will do a French-Japanese tandem at some point Which means I will read it in French and she will read it in Japanese, but I think I will also read each section in Japanese afterwards to double-check my French understanding (curious to see which version I get more out of ^^)
佐賀のがばいおばちゃん from the Intermediate Book Club
and if I get bored after that, there’s still a big pile in my BookWalker account
