I got so annoyed by Trash that I forgot to read Seasons … The first chapter of this reading was ridiculously difficult because the story wants to have some sort of love triangle/square, but vol 1 resolved love triangle abc because a and b got together. Now c is still trying to interfere and suddenly has admirer d and d wanted to pick a fight with a and b because he didn’t know which one c was smitten for and said some stuff that got a totally disproportionate reaction. Ugh. Still hoping to finish this one by the end of the week. If no weird chapters like that crop up again, then I shouldn’t have trouble.
Oops, I couldn’t wait until Saturday to try the new ABBC club pick. Then read more of Ruri Dragon which remains super cute! I like the art style. Also, finished chapter 1 of hp, woooo haha.
I had a lovely, but difficult day today - I work remotely and I’m leaving my job at the end of next week, but tonight was our Christmas party so there were a lot of goodbyes to navigate but also loads of presents and kind messages.
It was the last time I’ll see a lot of people in person, so it was pretty sad for me.
So even though its a bit early since I’ve already read this weeks bookclub chapter, I read a chapter of Teasing Master Takagi-san tonight. Something short and sweet to read was a good way to wind down after an emotional day.
Oops accidentally finished 古見さんは、コミュ症です。(1) | L23 in a day. (Well, two days, but who’s counting). It was… surprisingly easier than I thought for a series I had thought of as really wordy? Furigana helps though to keep the flow going even with lookups.
I think I might skip the coin and just read Ms Elf 3 next.
Seasons was about a constellation that’s usually only visible tonight and yesterday? (14) and then how to prevent cold damage to your extremities (15). Seasons says to take a bag of beans and microwave them. I’ve heard of this trick before and it does work, but beans are stinky…
Trash was less obnoxious language-wise than yesterday. We’re back to pretty easy reading but it’s going back to problematic bait again. I’m not a fan. Definitely selling these 2 volumes back this weekend.
I have been bad about posting updates because my daily updates were really just the same thing every day for a while there, but recently I’ve been branching out more and just need to get back in the habit. A few things that I really enjoyed this time!

こがねいろの君, finished - a short slice of life 東方同人 manga about 魔理沙 running some errands and chatting with some 妖怪 friends. Has a cool gimmick where the manga has color, but only the things that are the golden color of marisa’s hair. It’s from the same artist who did the art for wild and horned hermit, which I still need to get to at some point. Guesstimate ~natively level 30, as with most touhou stuff there’s a lot of weird speech styles, religious or otherwise weird word usage, and really scary looking names with no furigana (and a lot of them but if you’re reading touhou doujin, they assume you know them)
イジらないで、長瀞さん ch 141 - suuuuper quick chapter this time
I started playing ねこあつめ on my phone, and I counted about the 15 minutes it took for me to figure out the game mechanics and read the tutorial as reading, but after that it became pretty autopilot other than looking up the names/personalities of new kitties
未来日記 volume 1, finished - I bought this series as a christmas gift for a friend who’s been sorta learning japanese forever. I got him ハピネス last year, not sure if he ever read it, but this is another one of his favorites. Pretty quick read, would’ve been even quicker if I already knew the plot and rules for the game, I’m sure. The series was on sale on bookwalker too, so I own it myself digitally if I decide to ever come back to it or need to help him out with any questions. It’s not my favorite kinda story, but I did definitely learn some new words lmao

I’ll be reading Shikimori-san isn’t just a cutie with the ABBC starting tomorrow, but I’m trying to catch up on the previous reading too, the volume 1 of ホリミヤ
I’m also reading here and there in level books or news on todaii.

I generally like it. Like, it’s filled with science (but I don’t know if it’s true or not) and pop culture references. Read the main story and read further explanations.
Fonts and graphics aren’t so new, but also not really moe-style. Fonts are so stacked together and I don’t play this one full-screen.
Maybe another problem (?) is it is also filled with character stereotypes. Overdone sometimes, but may also be a point of interest.
うたわれるもの is also like that – stereotypes and in-world appendices, but not as much science and pop culture.
-ATRI- is good regarding the story. I enjoyed it.
All VNs I have tried have good music (otherwise I wouldn’t play it).
Out of these, I like STEINS;GATE and Fatal Twelve. Also, BU$TAFELLOWS looks promising.

It’s been a stressful year, and there have been some changes to the structure of the company recently that have made it a much less good place for me personally. So I’m really sad about leaving my team but it felt like the only option…
Current “plan” is to have a little bit of time to de-stress at the start of the year, and then decide whether I want to find a new job in the same field (I’m a producer at a video game company, so its a cool job, and can be fun, but it can be incredibly high stress too), or whether to try something different.

Three chapters of Ms Elf 3, most of it spent fighting bandits. Not uninteresting, but as always the fantasy is more difficult for me than the slice of life because of lack of vocab familiarity…
五等分の花嫁 ch 1 (~60 pages) - looong time digital 積読 for me, this one is. I think I got the first few volumes back around the same time I bought ホリミヤ in like late 2021. Was way too hard for me to read read then, but I used it to double check some things I thought I heard in the anime while I was watching it. Now its been long enough that I don’t remember the plot details and is a much more pleasant read
