Which section of the store it’s in. Japan divides things less by Western style genres and more often by intended audience. The content itself doesn’t seem to factor in a lot although I don’t think I’ve seen much murder in things intended for small children.

I was thinking young adults rather than small children. But how does the section thing work in an online store? I see no categories or helpful labels indicating intended audience.

Hmm - I haven’t posted since last Saturday I think. Been busy in the dive trip, but also started to feel unwell Tuesday, sore throat then congestion and a cough Yesterday was a long day with a whale shark trip then moving to another area. Today I couldn’t dive as my ear wouldn’t equalise 
However, that did give me a chance to make progress on all my book clubs which are universally behind.
Going to copy and paste my notes for last 6 days:

As you can see, it’s not been great. And the Spy Family volume 3 club starts from tomorrow. I should be posting the thread but not sure I have the energy! 830 boat departure and I’ll at least snorkel I think if I can’t dive.

Oh, book reviews and yes, the setting. Most high school settings with a high school protagonist tend to be aimed at younger audiences, and reading book reviews there was a lot of スラスラ読みやすい and ラノベっぽい. I’m also thinking the audience is middle/high school students rather than very young kids. I definitely read “age appropriate” murder mysteries at that age

I should probably elaborate that by small children I mean more like 5 years old.
Usually on online websites, I also see the sections, but I have no clue where it’s coded into Amazon. I assume it is in some way but I don’t know where to find it, sorry.
I guess there is the search function but that doesn’t help with links to listings

Read another Tadoku book, this one was really short. The ゆきだるま lost his nose! Wish it was a bit more content, but I guess it had a few words I’ll have to learn.

More common than you’d think! It’s shown up in a book from the 60s I’m reading and it’s also in the title of a book published last year (硝子の塔の殺人). These days it’s more for fanciness, but previously it was commonly used just like 煙草…which I suppose is slowly fading into just タバコ these days.

Unexpectedly I’m having time to read, but not time to do lessons on WK (mostly because I wouldn’t be able to do the reviews properly for them).
Another chapter done for Orange. Two more and I’m caught up to the book club that is having a break next week. So yay, I got two volumes behind, but I’ll be caught up before we start volume 4, so that is something.

Short on time today, so I just read the final part (part 6) of ジャックと豆の木. Jack went down the beanstalk, his mother cut down the beanstalk, and the giant died. Bit of an anti-climactic ending, if I do say so myself.

Read よつばと！Ch 44. いいタイミングね I get sick right as we get to a chapter where よつば gets sick 
Some good words. I tried to slow down my reading and really focus on grammar today, see if I could tease apart some more complex structures. I marked a few panels here as good sentence mining cards, but my plan is to wait to make anki cards until after I finish going through the series. Then I can come back through my reading logs and add the words/grammar things that still seem relevant.
Got some dinner and came back to read another chapter (45) as well. 日渡ちゃん is a flawless character. No notes. I was laughing hard enough at points in this chapter that I started coughing and had to take a break from reading to catch my breath.

I had to travel straight after work today as I’m attending a wedding tomorrow morning so I read after midnight, but I’m still considering this to be “today”

Played the first Pheonix Wright game (had the collection forever) and finally thought “Screw it, lets try.” And OH boy, that first trial got me. I love how naturally everything flowed even when I messed up it was fun. I felt like it was a good check on my grammar abilities, so when I got things write it was because I genuinely understood what was being asked. I also love the puns with characters names! Naruhodo and Yahari. T0T Found my thing to be into for the next week. YAY!
