Lifetime Sale 2020-2021: The Moment We've All Been Waiting For

Just bought my lifetime of servitude to the crabigator! I’m excited but nervous. I’ve been going through the levels of WK at a snail’s pace so I know it makes the most sense for me to have bought lifetime, but I’m still worried about motivation. I mean, so far, so good and I’ve kept up with it every single day since I started and find it fun but who knows what distractions and dilemmas 2021 will throw at us!

Did it. Should have done it a year ago :see_no_evil:

So glad for this sale. I couldn’t justify the cost before, but I’ve been stressing about what’ll happen if some day I can’t renew and I have to break my routine. Now I can just go at my own pace and enjoy the journey.

Isn’t the welcoming email when you go for subscription ridiculously creepy?

Perhaps you don’t remember. You were deep in meditation, after all. Then you began to chant. Sixteen numbers. Then a date. Over and over and over.

Why sixteen? Creepy. :space_invader:

I assume it has to do with 十六, a vocabulary card from level 2.

What is the price of the lifetime sale now?

And…here…we…go.jpg

I think maybe it’s because credit card numbers have 16 digits… ?

Took the plunge and got that lifetime sub. After nearly crashing and burning on level 16 (aaa 44 days oof) i feel like at least with the lifetime sub, the pressure is lifted in having to learn all Kanji here in one year.

Also it’s been worth it so far, all the Kanji I’ve been learning actually sticks, I’ve already started Burning stuff

Well, I’ve just become a lifer after a year of monthly payments. Probably not the best choice, but that’s what I owe to the almighty Crabigator. :no_good_man:t2:

I AM LATE BUT I AM HERE AT THE PURPLE ICON CLUB!!! HELLO FELLOW MASOCHISTS KANJI STUDENTS!

I did two years’ worth of breakneck-speed WK before taking a burnout break last March, and didn’t have the motivation to continue until this sale. Now I can (and will) take it slow. This time, I pledge to actively add grammar to my studies!

Here’s to more/better/non-zero learning this 2021! :champagne: Happy new year, friends!

Here’s hoping for some kind of sale for yearly subscription too. Meant to purchase lifetime access this year, but damn Covid happened and my budget was destroyed

I’m in! Was going to get the year plan once my 1year course started, but as that’s all delayed thanks to covid, I guess I will be using this more than just minimum 1 year.

It’s been the most fun I’ve had with any language. Kanji is my favourite!

Don’t worry - there usually is in January if you miss the lifetime - you can ask about it if you don’t get an email for it

Welcome back to the community!

As for everyone else, 69th like on OP! Nice.

I’ve had over a year-long break from WaniKani and studying Japanese in general, but now I decided to come back to it again. At least with the lifetime subscription I’ll have all the time in the world and can take things at a bit slower and easier pace than I did before.

…but now I have over 500 reviews waiting for me and the tough question of if I should reset my account or not. Maybe going back a few levels would be the right choice, such as from my current 22 down to 20…

It might be a good idea to not immediately reset back to level 1, as plowing back to where you are might take so much time that you lose motivation. Instead, have a look through the level pages and see at what pages your recollection starts to falter significantly. A few mistakes are ok, as the SRS will take care of that. But if you start getting like 10/30 wrong or something like that, it might be a good idea to reset back to that level :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I took the plunge! All mighty Crabigator guide me!.
Im mostly a lurker but wanted to share. I’m here to stay. It’ll be a long journey till 60. (Years probably). With lifetime I feel no pressure to rush, no clock ticking, thats a massive relief. Anyways thx for reading
Keep on keeping on

I finally did it. I finally got myself lifetime <3
It took me 6 months to get to lvl 20 and another 6 to get to lvl 23. My goal is level 60 by JLPT December 2021!

Wanikani has helped me IMMENSELY with living in Japan, I can’t stress enough how valuable this system is to permanently remember kanji. Maybe not all of them, but I think I can safely say that the constant slow reviewing over the last year has made around 600 kanji absolutely solidly(?) stick in my brain and I can read them as fluently as I read English.
Even if I don’t make the 60 by JLPT 2021, eventually I will get there and it will be awesome!

Good luck to everyone and thank you for having me for life
