Yes, it won’t be too bad (especially if it’s the pixel remaster). I had set up my “party” the first week, but then Life :trade_mark: intervened, so I was 5 weeks behind. But I was able to catch up in two less-than-4-hour long sessions (I think)
…I’m not good at tracking time when playing video games. Let’s just say that it wasn’t enough time for my Significant Other to feel that I was slacking off on my chores…

The spreadsheet is very helpful役に立つ!!

I continue to fill the spreadsheet with detailed notes on every word, phrase or grammar point that confused the heck out of me, and how I figured out what it meant. I think it was supposed to be a collaborative effort, but since I preplayed several months ahead already, filling out the spreadsheet has been a great way for me to follow along with everyone else.

Do you like exploring caves? I hope that the answer is yes because

For those playing the Pixel Remaster, it looks like there was an update today

But they’re keeping their secrets on what bugs have been fixed exactly

Unity’s just patched a security vulnerability that affects all games made in it since 2017. So it’s probably just the patch to fix that (Pixel Remaster was made in Unity)

I’m having fun with it! I can’t wait till we get to the SNES and especially the PS1 games. Some of my favorite games of all time.

How are we feeling about a 2k+ characters week 10? :grimacing:

I don’t really have a good cutoff point to split that, but also the vast majority of the text is optional town dialogue that’s technically also reachable during week 9, so that should be workable?

Ten’s a lot, even more than the really text-heavy early weeks. Maybe Onrac can go to week 9? Or Gaia? I know that I visited before I went to the dragon caves.

I guess that makes the most sense, lumping onrac into next week.

Ok I only have the endgame text left to transcribe, if we stick to the current schedule then week 13 will be the final one. So we should be done by the end of November.

Oh wow, that’s a lot quicker than I expected! Although I still have a bit more work to catch back up.. I finally made into week 7 yesterday

Yeah my original prediction was 17 weeks, but based on the feedback I merged a lot of stuff (especially dungeon sequences with little Japanese). After we’re done I’ll create a poll to decide when we want to start FF2.

How about… yesterday?

I did the rather short intro, just until you get control of your character, and saw 20 completely new words (compared to a deck of 20,000). Bananas. I now know how to express very important things like “life force”, “magic circle” and “rebel army”.

I’m itching to go as well; I’m so curious if I’ll like 2 or not. Just today I saw a random reference to it causing people misery on the original NES version

Very nice! I’m looking forward to play again and to continue the series.

Actually important vocab if you read a lot of fantasy stuff. 魔法陣 came up in a bunch of games in manga I read and 解放軍 is basically half the word count in Suikoden (although I think they use a different word in FF2?).

反乱軍. Okay I learned a word for rebel army.

I was only half joking. It’s funny how all the weird uncommon words people tell you that you don’t need to know are somehow 90% of what you read when you fire up, ya know, FICTION. I know all sorts of obscure, technical and archaic terms in English, why shouldn’t I learn them in Japanese too?

Actually I think 反乱軍 is a general word, while the one you mentioned is something specific to Suikoden. A little like the nonsense way that they spell Bracer in Trails JP, maybe.
