I generally have so many book clubs, plus my own reads, that all I have time for in a week is to read my assigned section and then move on to my next book
Clubs with a lot of discussion help too, because if you get too far out ahead of that it’ll be kinda sad to read parts that people aren’t talking about. It’s hard to know what will or won’t be lively ahead of time though, so that’s harder to do.
I also have a better chance of finishing manga with clubs because it’s generally a lot shorter of a time that they read for.
I definitely drop my own share of book clubs, but those are my thoughts about the ones that I do finish..
By the way for those who aren’t ready to continue with us right now, the balance of gameplay-to-japanese is going to shift more and more towards more gameplay and less Japanese over the next few weeks. So don’t worry if you want to spend more time on the start of the game, it should be relatively easy to catch up with us even if you lag a couple of weeks behind.
@simias I have a feeling I’m super late on this, but maybe not? I see you’re up to week 7 in the sheet… I’ve been working on some scripts to pull out the dialog in English and Japanese for Pixel Remaster (with other potentially relevant information). If you’d like I’m happy to share the result with you if it would help to avoid you having to do all the extra typing.
I don’t think the forum has a DM feature, but let me know and I’ll get you a link somehow.
Hi all, unfroze the wanikani and opened my mountain of reviews so I could post this scan of the Japanese manual a friend sent me when I mentioned playing through this. Hope it helps! Been enjoying the game so far, hopefully this gets much easier once I learn the majority of these RPG specific terms.
They also have a full gear list and who can equip what. Actually very useful, I’ve been playing the Famicom version without looking that up and it’s a bit frustrating to have to use trial and error to figure out who can equip what.
I was curious to see if the manual would provide hints for the more obtuse quests, and it sort of does but in a very subtle way. I mean let’s say that it cuts the search space in half… Assuming that you already knew what you were searching for.
So many great memories opening a game case and reading the manual on the way home before playing! Now extra stuff like that which used to be included either isnt present at all, or is in a deluxe / collector’s edition. Glad to see it’s getting use already. I could read very little of it, but thoroughly enjoyed looking at the character, equipment, and map art regardless
I think I’m going to merge weeks 5 and 6 because week 6 is really short currently and week 7 is rather heavy.
Week 5 is going challenging for some but it’s basically only gameplay with very little Japanese, so I think it makes sense to tack week 6 on top of it since it’s mostly just Japanese.
