This might be a lot better, tbh. And a huge time saver. I plan on building my JSON with all the word information behind the scenes and then serving that statically to the frontend. So I won’t be making those requests for every user.

I’m pretty confident on the first line but I’m wondering if I’m right on the meaning of the second? It makes sense but maybe it’s my English brain saying it doesn;t flow well. I’d be curious on how others translate this panel.

Rather than conditional と in this instance, I read it just as the usual quoting と.
I read this more as, “I realize again that the arbitrary impressions of Miyamura that I held were completely wrong.”

For anyone wondering, yes, it does become easier to distinguish between the two over time!
The more you see each in use, the more your brain will absorb the patterns of their usage, and eventually, you reach a point where you know which usage it is without even thinking.
It takes time and lots of reading, but keep at it, and you’ll get there.
Note: I haven’t read the page/line yet to see what I think of it.

I did this with Rojjika and Rakkusei, but I advise against it if you want to spend time in these threads - it removes the impetus to check in as much I think. Of course, if you just want to read the thing, go for it.

This is missing the だけ from the translation. The meaning is closer to “Why did you only get full marks from P.E.?”
おにいちゃん in this situation of saying it to a non-relative is almost never actually understood as big bro. Rather it’s a general term for a young adult (coming from a child that is). Same situation as おじさん or おかさん

こう is kind of another way of saying “this”. It’s the same kind of こ as in この, これ, こんな, etc
そういう being the それ version
ああいう being the あれ version
こういう is sort of like saying “this kind of”
こういう人いつも遅れる
This kind of person is always late
こういう姿 can kinda be translated as “this form” or “this version” with 堀 talking about his scene-kid look.

The other thing that’s happening here is that
宮村のこういう姿を知ってる is a clause modifying 人
What kind of 人？

Yeah, I know, I’m just never sure how to translate it or if I should just leave it out. Even the casual ‘bro’ in english sounds weird because we don’t say it as much as other cultures say brother/sister.

Ya, I don’t mind coming back and checking on stuff cause I feel like trying to explain certain things in English helps me to understand them a bit more. Aside from looking up a couple words every page or every other page, I’m kinda flying through the manga faster than I thought I would and will probably eventually look to move into the intermediate book club. Honestly, I just keep Japanese pronouns, it’s easier than trying to find a way to say them. Otherwise, I think it’s generally either completely omitted, or replaced with a name or something
