You could also see it less as that she agrees, but that she’s trying to make him think that she agrees to console him, while also really thinking that but it being a little late to come off as sincere.

Added to the fear that she might have just called her dad lazy! And the desire to get out of that one! So many mixed up emotions and meanings! The more I read Yotsuba, the more impressed I am with the skill of the artist, to get all this in the facial expressions! Thanks again Kazzeon!

Thank you! Passed it (by the skin of my teeth) in July. Aiming for N4 next July. I also wish I had more time for Yotsuba. It is still too difficult for me, but I just love it so much!

Just a quick question if that is okay!
忘れないようにするため
忘れない - not forget
ようにする - to be sure to / to make sure that
ため - I asked the resident expert and she said “for”, which makes perfect sense, Jisho says sake; purpose; objective; aim
“For the purpose of making sure [I] don’t forget”
In English this is very wordy and we’d just say “to make sure I don’t forget”. I wonder if I’m missing anything here. What does ため add to the sentence? Everyone loves to shorten things, especially in Yotsuba, so couldn’t he have just said 忘れないようにする? Any ideas?

I think I’m okay with the meaning, but I’m not at all sure about 見てみよう. Could some kind person please explain to me what is happening with the grammar there? Thank you so much!

テキトー - I feel like I ought to know this, I’m sure I’ve heard it somewhere, but no idea!
だーた = だった, past state of being
“Mr Koiwai’s shopping choices were テキトー”

If I remember correctly, there was a chapter where Yotsuba said something like she knew what she was talking about. And then someone in response used 適当 to say something like “don’t say appropriate things”. I think it was the pool chapter way back in volume 2.

Just read 38 chapter and it was a pleasant surprise. After a long day, I could really enjoy reading native japanese material. The vocab and grammar was pretty easy but nevertheless I was reading Japanese manga for pure fun. Not like a chore to get better at a skill. Previously, due to large number of new word and constantly looking things up i got more tired but today i became rested after reading. That felt really good, hopefully with continued reading these feelings will visit me more often

なると- no idea
気合を入れて - てform of 気合を入れる, leading on to ている/ています I imagine.
I know from Jisho that 気合を入れる means “to fire oneself up” and Fuuka is saying “but, 1000-yen-milk, I’ve got to give that a try!”, but how would you all translate that, and how does the grammar work?
