I’ve seen quite a few folks in the ABBC mention ひとりぼっちの○○生活. The ABBC Offshoot doesn’t start until January, and ひとりぼっち looks really cute, so I figured I’d give the sample a try. It was totally manageable!
Although there’s no furigana, a lot of the kanji is stuff I’ve seen before and there’s no magical vocabulary or handwritten monologues like in Card Captor Sakura. The well-stocked vocabulary list also helps a ton, of course. (Thanks @ChristopherFritz!)
Which is just to say, I guess I’m in the BBC now! Just picked up a digital copy for next week’s reading.
I’m gonna try and get a good rhythm going so I can keep up once the ABBC Offshoot starts up too.
Disclaimer: If there is an offshoot, vocabulary lists will not be pre-populated unless someone has Mokuro installed and would like me to walk them through the process via Discord. (The process isn’t complicated but can take an hour or two.)
I just realised I’ve started three new book clubs in three consecutive weeks (one of which I’m actually running), so I thought perhaps I should sit down and work out what else I’m currently doing.
The Godan Bocchi club also seems interested in continuing, and the Yotsuba and Yuru Camp offshoot clubs are both gonna be getting a new volume in the next handful of weeks, not to mention the other three spinoff clubs I’m currently reading, and the further two that I’m not actually reading but whose threads I’m kibitzing on, and also the live-reading club currently doing Rojika and Rakkasei.
Thinking that perhaps my schedule might just be a tad full…
Absolutely not!
With a schedule like is, especially with so many high-level clubs, one tiny-easy club doesn’t make a big difference, so you should totally join
I’m just sad that there isn’t much love for 4-koma. I think this might be the first (full) 4-koma picked by beginner book club. And even though two won already in the intermediate book club, the reception has been pretty mixed.
