Before we start volume 2, what paces would you feel comfortable with?
Since this is an offshoot from BBC, I’ll put extra weight on a slower schedule.
- One chapter (8 pages) per week.
- Two chapters (16 pages) per week.
- Three chapters (24 pages) per week.
- Four chapters (32 pages) per week.
I’ll also be open to slowing/speeding the schedule mid-way based on reader participation.

We’re starting out at one chapter per week. As we go along, we can decide if we want to pick up the pace or keep at a leisurely one a week.

Hold on, we’re going back to one chapter a week even though we were already reading two chapters a week? I’ve been enjoying commenting on the chapters with people, but if we keep to this “leisurely” pace it’ll take over a year and a half to read.

With a small group reading, we need to consider the comfort for the majority of readers, or else risk the number of readers dropping to one.
We can review pace as we go.

I understand, it’s just disappointing. I’ll try to keep to the book club’s schedule, but it’s possible I’ll read ahead or get bored by the pace and stop reading entirely.

I voted one chapter per week cause I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with clubs but two is honestly fine. I actually read to by mistake this week cause I forgot we were changing the pace haha.
Haiku
So I just learnt Haiku aren’t 5-7-5 necessarily (unless I’m reading syllables wrong). Bocchi was a bit too hopeful in hers haha

I also voted for one chapter a week because I was overwhelmed with book clubs and also I didn’t even have the book yet. Just got it in the mail today, though!
I love how Bocchi gets more optimistic late at night. So cute. 
Also the ジャガイモ strip made me laugh out loud.

New character this week! As well as getting Hanako’s formal introduction at last, we’re also introduced to 暗い過去.
At the top of page 17, Sotoka’s スイヘーリーベー is a mnemonic for remembering the elements of the periodic table.

So, something that confused me a bit about this chapter when I watched the anime: Bocchi builds the basis of her relationship with Kurai on the fact that Kurai lent her a spare ribbon back in chapter 15, but… that was all in her head, wasn’t it? The real interaction was a scolding, wasn’t it?

I haven’t seen the anime, but at least from page 31, it looks like Kurai eventually gave her one (not shown before), which is why Bocchi has two in the second panel. I was never 100% clear on whether the last panel of page 15 shows Bocchi having gotten her own ribbon back out, or if she was given one after all between the last two panels.
