Wrapped up the final reading!! I actually really loved both the chapters this week, I think I just enjoy bocchi’s freak out moments a ton. Anyway it’s been a fun time reading with everyone! Congrats to all who made it to the end
This is so awesome! How different does it feel reading it now? I’m coming up on a year of learning and can’t wait to have the perspective of many more years behind me
Honestly, not too different as far as I can remember, but I was already in my 5th year of learning when I first read it, so it was pretty easy for me back then too. Not that I haven’t had that type of change for other books.
For manga it was ご注文はうさぎですか? | L24. I read the first and second volumes in my 3rd year of learning and struggled a lot, but a year later I read several more volumes and found them much easier. That’s my favorite 4-koma manga by the way, while ひとりぼっちの〇〇生活 is my second favorite.
For novels, it was definitely 魔法少女育成計画 | L36. I read the first volume after about 4 full years learning and it was torture to get through. I even went so far as to reread each chapter in English after I finished the chapter in Japanese, and this is the only book I’ve ever done that for. I went back to the series a year and a half later, and while it was still very difficult, that time made a world of difference.
Welp welp welp. Looks like a dropped from the club near the end. I didn’t finish last week and probably won’t read this one.
It’s okay, I’ll just start over with the next BBC !
Alright, and I’m done for real! I even got through the author’s note and understood at least the gist of it. I really liked the bad end lol. A nice goof to end off the volume.
My BBC journey ends here for the time being, but it was great practice at reading without furigana, which I’ll be using as a foundation to read some kids’ manga I read in Japan! (It was fun to write about my progress too – I’d like to do continue that habit in my own study log!)
Thanks again to @ChristopherFritz for setting up the club and the vocabulary list, without which there’s no way I would have gotten through the volume. And thanks everyone for your participation and encouragement!
