Thank you so much! Yes, thats so much better. Also thanks for teaching me
I would have colored each line individually… lol
I’ve wondered if it might help to have a second page number column, “page number in chapter” (where the first page is labeled as page 1 for each chapter). It still requires counting out pages, but it would take away needing to know which page the chapter begins on for lookups.
Probably could be done with conditional formatting over the whole sheet where it has a formula something like, “If this row’s page number column’s value has a different number from the next row’s page number column’s value, then put a bottom border on each cell of this row.”
Edit: Except it seems Google Sheets doesn’t support borders on conditional formatting…
A question about page 37:
Page 37
最初に言ったとおり。
I think this means something along the lines of: “I already said so in the beginning”, but can someone tell me what とおり means here?
Thanks! ![]()
I believe it’s definition 6 from jisho:
- the same status or way; as (e.g. as expected, as I said)
“As I said in the beginning”
I think this “next week” should be updated to be this link
第05-06局
Thank you for pointing it out! Updated ![]()
I had to read this sentence so many times to finally get why it means what it says! You are 100% right about that causative negative adverb form of いる!
The different forms of these short verbs can get really confusing. Isn’t the causative form of いる —> いさせる? Here we have いられる which could be passive or potential form. I read it as passive:
いる - to exist
いられる - to be existing
いられない - not being existing
いられなくなる - to change into a state of not being existing
私と二人きりでいられなくなるから - because then it would change into a state where it’s not just the two of us existing
Or more naturally - because then it wouldn’t be just the two of us.
I’m reading this いられる as potential form: “Because then we wouldn’t be able to stay just the two of us,” sort of feeling. Now I’m curious what other people think!
Yes I think potential form works too and gives a similar meaning to the sentence.
