It’s a percentage of words know, so yeah.
I add book club manga when people ask because usually someone’s already made a vocab list for the club and I just port that over.

Would there by any way to change the way a word appears without having to recreate the card? Basically I want to show the hiragana and not the kanji. For example 悉く (I just failed it so it’s fresh) or 彼此 are probably almost never written as such.
I’d hate to have to start cards over or search through my list and change them. If possible I’d like to fix them when I see them (during reviews).

Sort of yes, sort of no.
As of ~a month ago any card marked by EDICT as uk (‘usually kana’) is getting added with readings disabled. When the question comes up, it’ll skip the reading question and the reading will be shown to the left of the answer input (on desktop anyway).
It doesn’t change how the word looks at the top of the screen, but this kind of sounds like what you want.
If you want to have this behavior on any arbitrary card, you can just open up the card editor and then click the active readings to disable them. When all the readings are disabled then the above behavior will occur.
Is that sufficient or do you want to put in a feature request?
Unsolicited advice/my experience
At first I thought this was insufficient and it was more of a bother still seeing the kanji and having to look at the reading in the bottom left. After so long, however, I’m quite glad that this was a thing.
Edict automatically has kanji free entries for stuff that’s like…NEVER in kanji. for the other stuff though, you’d be surprised what “usually kana” words you’ll come across. There have been a lot where I have had the reading disabled and kinda payed half attention to the kanji, but then I actually came across it one day and I either immediately recognized it or was able to be like oh yeah that’s that one and it stuck from then on. So yeah, no real downside and you’ll use a lot more than you’ll expect. Your example, 悉く, is actually one I disabled the reading on back when I learned it but have actually seen it with kanji and was able to know what it was regardless thanks to the current way the card is displayed.
Just something to think about.
Yeah I think there’s benefit to knowing that a kanji version can exist, even if it’s not common.
I was thinking of just slamming some ruby tags on it rather than actually changing the front of the card.

I agree and honestly I like learning the kanji versions for exactly the reason you describe. One of my favorites is 沢山. But at the same time I’d like to just learn the meaning of the word and not do more flash cards. That said, I appreciate the sage advice. I’ll try to be prudent on the words I change.

Yeah I really enjoy learning the kanji as well, so it’s kinda a win-win. 沢山 is one of those you’ll see quite a bit in kanji (depending on what you read I guess) too. My favorite personally are the ones that are usually in katakana like 硝子、珈琲 (which is very appropriate to learn on this site), 蒟蒻, etc.
I mean, yeah sure but it applies in favor of having the kanji show regardless of whether reading questions are disabled or not

Ah no actually the whole post was meant for you/others. Currently, koohi basically makes you look at the kanji regardless of if you have the reading disabled or not. I was making an argument for why, while it may seem pointless at first, in the long run you’ll basically be getting free knowledge that will come in handy at no extra effort. Just felt like it would be worth the effort to try and dissuade people and potentially save them the pain of needing to relearn words down the road because they didn’t know the kanji.
