Discussion guidelines

This thread is here to comment on your impressions of this week’s episodes and to ask any question you have regarding the vocabulary or the understanding of them

Spoiler Courtesy

Please follow these rules to avoid inadvertent ネタバレ. If you’re unsure whether something should have a spoiler tag, err on the side of using one.

  • Any potential spoiler for the current week’s watching need only be covered by a spoiler tag. Predictions and conjecture made by somebody who has not read ahead still falls into this category.
  • Any potential spoilers for external sources need to be covered by a spoiler tag and include a label (outside of the spoiler tag) of what might be spoiled. These include but are not limited to: other book club picks, other books, games, movies, anime, etc. I recommend also tagging the severity of the spoiler (for example, I may still look at minor spoilers for something that I don’t intend to read soon).
  • Any information from later in the book than the current week’s watching (including trigger warnings that haven’t yet manifested) needs to be hidden by spoiler tags and labeled as coming from later sections.

Posting Advice

  • When asking for help, please mention the number of the episode and time of the section, and check before posting that your question hasn’t already been asked. As the threads get longer, it becomes more convenient to use the Search function, which is located in the upper right corner of the forum. It is the magnifying glass which is near your profile picture! The best way to search is usually to type part of the sentence you are confused about, and select “in this topic”. This will show you all posts within the current thread which has that string of text.
  • Be sure to join the conversation! It’s fun, and it’s what keeps these clubs lively! There’s no such thing as a stupid question! We are all learning here, and if the question has crossed your mind, there’s a very good chance it has crossed somebody else’s also! Asking and answering questions is a great learning opportunity for everyone involved, so never hesitate to do so!

The last 2 episodes were a rollercoaster.
The tone of the movie changed a lot in the last two episodes.
Such a great anime. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

So who do we want Anzu to end up with?

  • Tsukasa
  • Junta
  • Koganei
  • Saki
  • Riri
  • No romance, everyone stays friends

I don’t really care. Stories like this are more about the journey than the destination for me. But if she ends up with Riri, the author gets points for creativity.

Around episode 6 or so I randomly thought “haha wouldn’t it be funny if Anzu somehow ended up with Riri?” And then they actaully mentioned that possibility and I was :flushed:

Episode 11

Well, that escalated quickly.

5m38s: Did Anzu just teleport?

Episode 11

Suddenly the tone is terrifying. It makes a lot more sense why Tsukasa doesn’t go outside without hiding his face. This happened when he was in middle school and his dad is blaming him for it? That’s ridiculous. I’m glad his sister and Anzu are there to be supportive.

So having a stalker is bad enough that Tsukasa is willing to leave, and Riri’s response is that magic isn’t allowed to be used to interfere unless it’s for Anzu’s sake and that it’s better to remove him as a love interest? At least Anzu also agrees that’s harsh.

Episode 12

It took me this long to realize episode 11 was longer than usual. And so is 12. They also feel really dense plot wise.

The dad gets additional evil points in the hospital. Did he only show up to apologize and take Tsukasa home?

It looks like Tsukasa has completely fallen for Anzu, so that means everyone has fallen for her by this point?

Koganei gets points for helping protect Anzu from the stalker, but I still don’t think he’s a good fit for her. He gets useful friend points though.

Riri also gets points for abusing power to keep Anzu safe. I didn’t expect Riri to also fall for her, though I guess she just has that power since she’s so authentic.

Kate is not having a good first day at work (though I suppose Anzu’s case should be tagged as extra difficult…). If Riri got fired for tampering with the human world, will Kate get fired for letting the secret get out?

I was just thinking that Anzu is so good at debating that she’d probably find a way to argue that Riri has to stay her friend forever and avoid picking a love interest to give Riri that 0.01% love chance…but then Riri comes in with the new rule that she has to pick someone by graduation.

KATE IS ASSIGNED TO THE STALKER? NONONONONO…

I don’t want things to end here, but I guess I get it. I liked this pick for the club, and I learned some words. 「遅刻(ちこく) 遅刻(ちこく)」should be permanently seared in my brain since they repeated it so much when I was also seeing it in my wanikani lessons.

Question Ep 12, 3:50

Is the dad really saying that it’s Tsukasa’s fault Anzu was injured? Keigo always confuses me because it feels like things aren’t always literal, but this is literally blaming him right?

Tsukasa’s dad is the worst! And then Riri was so harsh towards him too. At least he has Anzu and his sister, but imo he’s going to need a lot of therapy and time to heal before he can be with Anzu. Or anyone, really.

Although I do hate the stalker, I’m kinda curious, because it looks like she actually has something wrong with her brain. I’m curious about the explanation as to why she acted like that. (Not that I’m excusing her behavior though, I still hate her guts.)

Pour one out for my girl Kate

I watched that part with English subs, and yes, his butthole dad said that the entire thing was Tsukasa’s fault.
