Userscripts and Opera GX incompatible?

Apologies if this isn’t the correct place to post this, though I couldn’t find any other posts on this topic so figured I’d ask.

I’ve attempted to install a handful of third-party userscripts over the past few days, however can’t seem to get any of them to work and I’m wondering if it has anything to do with using Opera GX as my browser. These are the scripts I’ve attempted to install so far in case it matters:

Side note: I can’t believe the scale and variety of scripts there are, massive kudos to the developers!

I’ve read through several other troubleshooting posts (including ones in the individual script posts) and from what I can see I think I’ve done everything needed to run them? That being said this is also the first time I’ve tried to use third party scripts in my browser so it’s very possible I’ve missed something. So far I have:

  • Installed Tampermonkey
  • Installed Wanikani Open Framework + made sure it’s #1 on my list
  • Made sure all the scripts are enabled both in the extension menu and on the WaniKani page
  • Enabled developer mode (as this was flagged by Tampermonkey itself)

I did read a few posts which mentioned that a recent WK update interrupted the functionality of some userscripts so I’m not sure if that’s what’s causing the issue. Any help/point in the right direction would be wonderful!

Hey, I wrote WaniKani Mnemonic Images. I just tried it out in Opera GX and it seems to be working fine.

Thank you for replying!

I’ve just had another look and I’ve realised there’s a little ‘can’t load image’ icon where I’m guessing the image/generate image button is meant to be:

I’ve tried refreshing/turning the script off and on again and restarting my browser window. But if it’s working for you, it must be something on my end, maybe another setting I have turned on elsewhere. I did manage to get the Ultimate Timeline script working a few days ago, though I didn’t actually do anything it just started randomly working lol. Still no luck on the others though, but if one (and a half ) are working then perhaps it’s something else.

Worst case I’ll try getting it to work in Chrome because these scripts look very useful (I’d switched browsers because Chrome was getting a bit slow). I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to create/maintain this script as images definitely help with recall!

Hey, this is because I recently updated the application. If you update the userscript it should be fixed.

Ah, that fixed it! Thank you so much!

Funnily enough, that update also seemed to trigger all the other scripts to work too. Maybe Tampermonkey just needed a bit of a poke? Either way, I really appreciate it!

Also, this one for the ‘year’ reading is hilarious :joy:
