The amount of times I get something wrong because my English is not good enough is getting frustrating…
I just keep adding synonyms, but I heard about an undo script, but I fear I might abuse it… but at this point I am starting to consider it. Anyone have any opinion about it? I don’t even know where to find this script.
Undo script will speed up your reviews by half, no kidding. No anxiety from answering wrong, just type in what strikes your mind first.
The most important thing is that you understand transitive/intransitive difference etc… If it indeed was a mistake, you mark it as wrong. Eventually you’ll need to learn this self-discipline/self-assessment if you move on to Anki and build own vocab cards.
I’m using it and also Back-to-back to always go reading => meaning
A great power imply great responsibilities, I’m using them mainly to type without fear of the typo that send something you actually know down the pile.
A the end of the day you’re here to learn some kanjis, not pass some sort of exam
My personal rule is that I do liberally use it for items in apprentice but not for things I’m supposed to have guru’ed.
The implication being that my level-up pacing is not impacted but I’ll gather the leeches eventually.
The vanilla way is to hit “home” when you get a mistake you judge wasn’t due to a failure of memorization, and come back.
You lose your current 1~9 queued up ½ items, and start fresh with no recorded level downs. You still get the small penalty of re-doing them so it’s not 100% “free”, and you don’t have to keep up with external scripts.
Of course it’s easy to give in to the temptation of washing away actual mistakes the SRS was built to reinforce, but hey, it’s there.
To fear abusing it, just be no less strict than vanilla.
Readings are simple – typing must be precise.
Meanings are – I am not here to remember one-to-one keywords, but rather, senses, most particularly, vocabulary meanings. I have mixed feeling about using English words of transitivity, but it could be safer (and properly stricter) to follow WaniKani’s defaults.
Accidentally right is a thing. You can be on a stricter side with Double Check, and turn to wrong.
But bygones are bygones. There are no way to undo past past mistakes, or accidentally right, with WaniKani (beside refresh, which still won’t undo already both-sided reviews). Nonetheless, imo, more repeating of wrong reviews is a good thing, if not requiring more effort to set up.
Let bygones and less effort to setup, are the real keys, imo, rather than really accuracy.
