Started reading this ghost book the other day as it was rec’d to me as an easier mindless slightly trashy read. Which is perfect It’s about a guy with one red eye that can see ghosts and uses it to solve mysteries. (Also he’s handsome and disheveled in, like, a cool, aloof way).
I found out when I pulled it up on my ipad that the ipad supports dictionary lookups on Bookwalker with the inbuilt apple dictionary?? This is amazing, I’m about to zoom through this book. I think it’s easier than the L30 it’s currently at on Natively… Probably similar to the コーヒーが冷めない book, like a 27 or 28.
Also having fun with my newfound freedom in reading and finally got to go back to Goosebumps. Spoiler alert: the camera is still cursed. This book is fun to read after reading a bunch of harder stuff, it almost feels like I’m reading kind of at the pace an elementary schooler would.
Yeah I hear so much about how that’s arguably one of the peaks of the series. Now that it has finally been given an English translation after all these years, I’m on my way to experience it in Japanese, haha. Played 1 back when it came out but definitely need the refresher. It’s been super nice because I read the original AA as one of my first Japanese reading projects, and here I am later, not scraping through word by word anymore but just reading it with very occasional individual new words popping up.
Though this guy, who every other line breaks into proverbs in full katakana while also at least one of the kana are wrong every time, I could maybe do without
went out so cut my reading a bit short but did get to finish march comes in like a lion vol 14! it features a fairly extended cameo from her other series, honey and clover, which went completely over my head tbh but i’m sure fans of that series appreciate it. was a fun volume. i’ve only got three left before i’m caught up!
oh i also read the ペーパー which came with vol 15, which i’m absolutely counting as part of this challenge because look at it
today’s nhk article was this one (short, fire in seoul) plus the entries on たって (2) and てばかりはいられない in aDoAJG
oh i hated this guy so much actual nightmare for a learner (oh wait i found the post of me being confused)
i played these last year (see spring and summer reading challenges for that year) and had an absolute blast, they can be a bit clunky in places but investigations 2 was clearly made with a lot of love for the series which helps carry some of the more annoying logic chess sections.
Time to put that new year’s resolution to the test. I picked up the first 12 volumes of 涼宮ハルヒ, so that’s what I’ll be starting with. Shooting for at least 20 minutes a day.
I’ve also been replaying ゼルダの伝説 BotW and TotK, this time in Japanese. That reading is much less intense so it’s easier to get motivated toward.
January 2
Today I read three more texts from 日本語N1文法・読解まるごとマスター. Text three from this book was really hard I think I will need to reread it. Of course I could check the translation but it would feel like cheating, also I need to learn how to deal with hard texts.
Final Fntasy VII Remake finished chapter 9. The bee outfits are awesome somebody get me one. I would wear it every day.
Finally caught up with the bocchi club and read up to and including this week’s chapter, plus it looks like the bocchi club is split between “yes” and “whatever” for moving to two chapters a week in bocchi so I read another chapter of bocchi also. Now I’m caught up to all my reading bocchi clubs, so will have to pick something else to read tomorrow. I’m still waiting on my physical book order which includes my next novel planned, so probably a manga. Maybe I’ll have another go of railgun to clear it from my in progress list…
I lack motivation when it comes to reading - hopefully this will help

I understand virtually nothing at my level - today and yesterday I copy pasted one article from NHK Easynews and have been training myself to recognize any vocab/kanji/particles. Then I make an elaborated guess on what I think the article is about Not the most fun but I need to keep going !
It’ll start making sense soon I bet! Persistence/consistence is key and so long as you don’t burn out or end up hating it, you should see good progress
One chapter of ふらいんぐうぃっち today, plus a litte Christmas Tina VN. I love how the VN switches between Chinese and Japanese, and how I get to feel frustrated together with the main characters when they’re unable to deal with their language barriers.
Strategically placing easier reads in between harder reads and then スーと鯛ちゃん hits me with plot? The heck? It’s スーと鯛ちゃん not スーと誰も Also, I was getting annoyed of tallying text boxes for 軌跡 's character count estimate. So I’m not gonna.
Late to the party, but full of motivation!
Most of the time I just read by myself, but I hope this will help me to stay accountable and also more fun for a change!
