Today I read this week ABBC assignment of 可愛いだけじゃない式守さん, and then 3 pages of コンビニ人間.
Still hoping to finish コンビニ人間 by the end of the year, but its starting to look a bit unlikely, especially since I’ve come down with a rotten cold!

- Finished 薬屋1 yesterday. Did I read it or did I mererly remember watching the anime episode from a week ago while matching that to the text? I’m not sure but I’m going to count it as a win either way.
- Started 僕の心のやばいやつ3. These damn kids are hilarious. I really like あんな because she is a huge weirdo.
- Read 美術部 for club… i’m glad this is a short manga, let’s put it that way.

Most of this week has been short reads due to work. At least yesterday I did some proper reading. I’d had my Covid booster the previous day so didn’t have the energy to do much else. Today I’ll manage a little, but we have a house party this afternoon, then I’m working early tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!
I hardly ever posted in this thread because I was pretty busy. Right now I try to desperately finish reading some things that I started this year but I will probably fail at that. The game Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is taking me way longer then anticipated to finish.

Traveled home for the holidays, so much more limited reading selection! But before that, I picked up… 35 new volumes for the digital 積読 on the bookwalker sale… but 50 yen and 50% coinback was just too good to pass up, unreasonably good deal. AND I discovered a few new things that I’ll have to try out when I get back home! Really excited to try out the pre-yuasa-movie manga adaptation of 夜は短し歩けよ乙女 especially
Read:
- かわずや１ - cute little slice of life, but very easy to read (like level 15 natively, definitely the easiest manga I’ve read). 2 volumes were on sale for the 50 yen bookwalker sale and they have a very good guy
on the cover, so I had to get em. I’d say ABBC nomination material, but it wasn’t really noteworthy in any particular way or cute enough to really recommend. I’ll probably read the 2nd volume just to finish the series, but it’s not that high on my list - continued my ヤニ吸う reread - I don’t really do a lot of re-reading, but maybe I should start including some here and there. There’s a lot of stuff I’m picking up on this time that I missed on the first read, + it’s just a really good series and I enjoy reading it
- I also tried reading some とらドラ！just for fun without yomichan, just to see how it would go. Definitely didn’t get as much as I would’ve, but I still understood a surprising amount of this section! (pg 187->189, 2 pages)

So I started reading Silent Witch 4.5 and the prologue was fun. Also realized one of the characters since the beginning of the series is kinda hot 
Or maybe just growing on me.
Forgot to mention yesterday, but there was a QR code in the atogaki. It’s the first time I’ve seen one in an atogaki. I haven’t tried scanning it, but it’s about the book I’m currently reading.

I was also surprised at how much more I picked up from ヤニ吸う on reread! There are many forward and backward references and little details that are too easy to miss when speeding through the initial read. Glad that I’m not the only one who loves this series! 
Just one more month until 四箱目 is out…

薬屋のひとりごと first ~10 chapters – picked up the entire digital back catalogue of 月刊ビッグガンガン in big part due to this. Good workout, apparently there is an anime out now as well? There’s also two separate manga series?? Saw the advertisements everywhere in Japan, but now I’m unsure which series they were for.

I stumbled upon this newish Twitter manga series called となりの猫と恋知らず by あきのこ. Innocent 初恋 vibes and a ton of cats, read all five chapters out currently. あきのこ is 地主’s assistant and has had some one-offs published in 月刊ビッグガンガン previously, loving their own work so far!

- 主眼を置く = to regard as the main point
- 見得を切る = to assume a proud posture
- 青筋を立てる = to be angry with bulging veins
- ブラウン管 = Braun tube = CRT. e.g. ブラウン管テレビ, ブラウン管モニター.
- 結果オーライ = turn out alright in the end
- 罪過 = sin; offense; fault
- 仏陀 = Buddha (large つ). Also, 仏陀 and ブッダ.
- 苦行 = asceticism. Also, 難行苦行
- 世襲 = heredity. Second Kanji is from 襲う (which also has a second meaning), having a second meaning of “succession”.
- 沐浴 = ablution. No Furigana
- 保養所 = recreation facility. Somewhere like for 養生.

I listen to the sentences too, and repeat at them sometimes.
In the settings, I input my WK level and now the kanji I can read are not anymore with furigana, and at first, I didn’t even notice it 
It means progress, right ?

Short stories are longer than expected and not at all unconnected like I feared they would be. The prologue felt kinda random at first, but served as a setup for short story #1. Not bad at all 
Random, but I didn’t know pine cones could be so pretty. Found it under the tree today Looks a bit like a mix of rose and sakura shape to me

Kiki-Mimi Radio from Satori Reader
ホリミヤ vol. 1, 2 pages for week 4 of the ABBC.
I’m really struggling with ホリミヤ, not just because it’s difficult for me (in fact it is), but also because the picture quality on PC is awful. I often have to check words and furigana on my paper copy, it’s annoying 
I send you good vibes 
It’s never easy when a reading resonates with you in a bad way
