I read the first word from chapter 11, which means technically chapter 11 is in progress, which means technically there’s only one chapter remaining.

読む前に

  1. 「いただきます」は英語の訳はぜんぜんありません。そして、「よろしくおねがいします」は訳の可能性がたくさんあります。

  2. 人に何かを頼む時に頼む間に「please」と言うべきです。人が助けてくれたあとで「thank you」と言うべきです。

読んだ後で

  1. そんな頼みを受けたら、解明を聞きます。誤解して違いことをしたくない。

  2. 理由を考えていないと思います。子供時からそんな言葉を言おうにいう、人間は変化に抗いがちだから。。。
    英語の母語話者として、ここで話すことを許さないある禁句以外、よろしくのような言葉を思い出せないけど、ESLの人に聞けば答えられるかもしてません。

読む前に

  1. まずは日本語を話すとミニオンズのように聞こえます。

  2. 日本語でさえ、もうぶっきらぼうで下品です。勉強し始める時に、早速「この禁句は日本語で何と言うか」と聞いていました。

読んだ後で

  1. アメリカの南の州に住んでいる人によると、北の州に住んでいる人は早口、そのために性急だと思わせます。

  2. 外国語の性質に合わせて性格を変えたらコミュニケーションがうまくいくと思うけど、それをするより言うほうが易しいです。

  1. 「大丈夫」は私にとってちょっと難しいです。文脈によって「はい」か「いいえ」の意味があります。

  2. 誰か傷つくことを見る時、その人に「大丈夫ですか」と言うべき、そしてその人は「大丈夫です」と答える、と学びました。ですが、ある日私はユーチューブを見る間に、動画にユーチューバはコンビニに弁当買っていました。レジで「温めてあげましょうか」と聞かれた、そして「大丈夫です」と答えました。私はその大丈夫は「はい」の意味があると思うけど、実は「いいえ」の意味があります。とても驚きて混乱されました。

  3. 私は「傷つかない」などの意味を学んだから、ポジティブな意味合いがあると思ってしまいました。その代わりに「I’m fine as is」として考えることはもっとやさしいかもしれません。

I wasn’t sure, in the first reading is the author mad at whoever is asking them of the request or are they trying to justify the actions of the request in their mind (this reading is kinda hard lol)

Any sentence in particular you’re conflicted about? The overall message I got was that よろしく shifts the decision to the reciever, so that they can choose the exact amount they want to do, but it also shifts the responsibility of making that decision.

No unknown for me this time around! But I did read ALL the Bunpro’s entries :x (last chapter there were a lot of points that are not on Bunpro and were new to me though)

Finally finished Chapter 10 and started this chapter. Had a much easier time with this chapter’s Yomimono 1 in comparison to last chapter’s.

The only one I’m really familiar with is とする. The rest ranges from “I’ve seen this in the wild once” to complete unknown.

That’s how I understood it, too. The author picked the annecdote of the friend who asked them to よろしく a friend of theirs who wanted to visit Paris, because it was a case where it was particularly unclear what was expected of him and it put him under stress.
