Optimized Core 10k vs iKnow

Hello everybody

Can some of you share their experiences with iKnow and the optimized 10k deck form hinekidori with me?

What I did so far:
- Tried (bought for 1 year) iKnow but the way it asks for the answers is not really for me after all.
- Removed the WK vocab from the 10k deck and tried that. I’m using the one that is sorted by WK levels.

One thing I wonder about is the number of kana vocab I’m missing out on vs iKnow (because they are last as a bonus in the Anki deck) if I only do the vocab fit for my WK level and their importance. The other is if I should use the WK level order or the default one for the best learning experience.

Best regards.

In the end, the answer is simply “You need to learn as many words as you can.” So really the only answer is which method you like better.

There’s a kana only deck somewhere if that interests you in addition to the core 10k.

I haven’t used any of the decks so not sure how that deck compares to the regular one.

The kana only deck is pulled from the 10k deck, so if OP is using the 10k, the kana vocabulary is included. It's actually separated as its own subdeck in the WK organized version.

mtcleary talked about his experience with the deck so far. It’s post 275 if you want to read it.

I personally have been using the 10k organized by Frequency. Eventually everything overlaps, so I never felt a real need to follow the WK levels when learning vocabulary. One of the advantages to this is that the kana vocabulary is mixed in with the kanji vocabulary as you go along. Which I think is a plus.
