Yeah, sometimes I forget (it’s easier to write down the good stuff!) but I try to mention that kind of stuff so it doesn’t seem like I’m just some crazy superhuman doing Japanese all day.
Like 80% of the time, I don’t clear my wanikani reviews on my off days either

This a very easy to understand podcast. He speaks clearly but very slowly - it would be an excellent podcast for practising shadowing. I’m listening to it to have a change from my usual podcasts, but also because it is easy to hear even with a fair amount of background noise. I sometimes try to listen to Japanese podcasts while I’m in the shower but I find my go-to ones difficult to hear with the shower on. This one is definitely easier to hear in those kind of situations.
I’ve completed the main storyline of DQH1! Seems I’ve unlocked a new difficulty level too, though I kinda wanna do all the post-game stuff first—or so I thought, but there’s a huge jump in difficulty, so I’m not getting much of anywhere, and I’d rather not restart so soon, so I’m starting a new game of DQXI instead. It’s been a little over two years since I last played, dang. I got ~58 hrs in on that save file.
I completely forgot this comes with voice dramas. I’ll have to listen to those some other time.
Oh no. I started writing a luminerik fic that’s rooted in canon, and now I wanna start a new game already so I can lift lines from it accurately… Though actually, my biggest concern isn’t that I just started this yesterday, but that I don’t wanna do math.
So I’d forgotten about unlocking new れんけい技 by unlocking new skills and had thought that お宝ハンター was El’s and Camus’s since that’s really the only one I used. Figured out Camus needs ぬすむ for it, but I couldn’t figure out why I still wasn’t unlocking it. Wellp. Turns out El also needs 火炎斬, which I hadn’t gotten because I’d decided to go the broadsword route rather than the usual sword-and-shield route this time around. So that’s rectified. (Love that “頼むぜ、相棒!” And the loot, ofc) (I also love that little “いただき!” that Camus says maybe like a fifth of the time when using ぬすむ)
Went hiking with friends this morning. Wasn’t giving anyone a lift so had plenty of podcast listening time:

どうして子どもは同じ本を何度も読むか

9分
10,000時間の法則、時間か方法か
(Discusses the “10,000 hours of practice needed to become proficient in something” theory. Is it just a matter of hours or is method also important?)

Finished listening to the hour-long 50 JLPT3 grammar points review, so am now going to work my way through the short JLPT short grammar tutorials starting with #1 (だらけ、おかげで、せいで)
Also listened to some Thinking in Japanese Podcasts
今していることに注目する
(Talks about how most people do more than one thing at once with the result of a decrease in overall performance of the tasks they’re doing - so true, I was listening to the podcast while driving which probably isn’t the best road safety practice as I have to actively listen to Japanese in order to comprehend Learnt the katakana word マルチタスクwhich I initially had trouble recognising as “multitask”)
9分
かんたんに記憶力を上げる方法
(Apparently studies show that just by doing physical exercise you can improve your memory - I wonder if he is talking only about aerobic exercise as the beneficial exercises he lists are skipping, running, cycling & fast walking)
7分
「何かができない」は「ほかの何かができる」
(Even if you can’t do something, you can certainly do other things. Gives an example of someone who couldn’t walk until he was 4, but by a young age had read an enormous amount of books, including those aimed at adults)

You know you’re overleveled when a monster jumps out of its hiding place as you pass by only to immediately turn around and flee lmao
I don’t even do it on purpose; it just happens, especially when I’m trying to pinch a specific item. (Probably also didn’t hurt that I’d already given Camus Metal Wing by the time I started getting a bunch of metal slimes showing up in Samadhi. A lot more were defeated than ran off. I’m currently working on getting him Dual Wield—and then a second boomerang. At least I think he can dual wield those too. Well, I am primarily playing him as a knife-user, so it’s not like it won’t be useful.)
Oh no, I knew Toriyama Akira had passed recently, but I didn’t know Sugiyama Kouichi had, too. I was searching for the DQXI bestiary on the wiki and saw there was a page for DQXII, which is still in development, and that made mention of it. Apparently it was back in 2021, so it’s old news, but. I’m sad now. I might not have found DQ until I was a young teen, but his music has still been a pretty big part of my life/childhood.

シンプルに説明でできないなら、あなたはそれをよくわかっていない (expressing the view that an inability to explain something in simple words reflects a lack of understanding. Listening to this, I thought of how good teachers always have this skill)
