Is there anyway to skip some progression?

I started WaniKani to hopefully improve my vocabulary in Japanese and kanji memorization, as i am part Japanese I am perfectly memorized up to around grade 3 and probably will not skip progression but would just like to know out of curiosity.
Thanks - E

There is not, no. There is a “retire” script that might let you not have to burn some of the easier vocabulary. Not sure how it works though.

Thanks E

There are a few lists of all the user-scripts.

This is burn manager not sure if it still works though…

Wanikani might not be the best option for you

Using something like anki or renshuu with a custom deck might be the way forward

By grade 3, you mean… what exactly? If you go over WaniKani kanji and vocabulary, at which level do you see new items?

If you never make a mistake, you only need about 7 days per level. That is very fast and overwhelming for someone who needs to learn all that, so people usually go slower. That already gives you advantage and you will clear easy levels fast. Still, if you already know for example 10 levels, that means over two months of nothing new. One note, though. WK uses its own names for radicals (I read that somewhere, don’t know where) so jumping ahead would be confusing anyway.

Alternatively, you can look up new items ahead while you are catching up with SRS. You will eventually “officially learn” the items and add them to SRS queue. Once you catch up, you can slow down and continue normally.

Don’t forget to check out self-study script to avoid getting delayed by stupid mistakes like typos.

Grade 3 means Japanese Grade 3. The Joyo kanji are split up across Grades 1-9. Wanikani starts giving Grade 4 (and above) kanji at WaniKani level 4. Wanikani has about 2000 kanji and they know about 450 of them. So it will be a lille boring to start but sooner than later that’s be plenty of new Kanji. About 3 weeks.

I didn’t know that was called Joyo  Using wkstats.com you can check how WK relates to Joyo. If you log in, it shows you exactly how much have you covered so far.

For reference, this is what I see at level 10:

In the coming levels you start majorly filling up the Grade 4. And you’ve been doing WaniKani for what 2 or 3 months? It’s important for OP to know the first 2-3 months will be mostly review but after that it’s almost all new.
