Could a kanji change in appearance?

Boot radical looks different in Kanji

I don’t know if this is because of any font issue, but to me the “boot” radical looks rather different than the component of the Kanji it is used in, such as 勤. In particular, in this form the radical is “missing” one horizontal stroke. I find this a bit confusing because I can’t really see the boot (or the leather which is supposed to be part of “boot”) in that Kanji anymore (because it’s missing the “bull’s head” and I’m seeing flowers instead). Why wasn’t the radical chosen to look identical…

噂 - Why does this Kanji look different?

噂 (うわさ, rumor) is a level 33 Kanji and vocab. I use both the WaniKani website and the Flaming Durtles android do my lessons and reviews. I noticed that the Kanji looks slightly different on the WaniKani’s webapp versus Flaming Durtles. Was doing my reviews and came across karate, the sky kanji looks different since it’s not connect for the top piece but this is the first time I have seen it like this. Has anybody else seen this? 空手 [image] [image] Same with say [image] [image]
