You can click the eye button below the text entry box to see the answer. 
The reason it’s not displayed automatically is that the system wants to give us a chance to figure out the correct answer for ourselves, first.

The eye can’t be clicked.
You can’t click it before you’ve submitted your answer. Can you post a screenshot of what’s going on?
I submit an answer and it is still blocked. I want to move along rapidly. I also don’t want to wait an hour.
I’m not entirely sure what the problem is, unfortunately. Sometimes if you have a bad internet connection it can be very slow to load, but you should always be able to click it. Are you talking about during the review right after you learn a lesson, or the next review after that?
As for waiting an hour, unfortunately that’s just how WaniKani works. They have lots of good reasons for it, and you can read more in some other threads. Like these:

The reason you have to wait is because this is an SRS system

do i have to subscribe after level 3?
Yes, after level three you must pay to continue ^^
I believe it’s $9 USD a month, or $89 per year
