Thank you! It seems that I tried audiobook.jp and had a problem with it, but I will try it again!
Summary
I am all too of the move towards streaming and subscriptions. I have watched it with dismay, and watched how people have went along with diminishing rights to the music they purchase. I have also paid attention to this from a musician’s point of view as well. I even still have a working Victrola that only plays 78s printed before 1928! It is interesting to reflect on how recording and transmission of sound (and the laws surrounding it) have changed from the 1890’s until now.
We have reached a point were copyright laws designed to protect artists are hindering new artistic creation.
@RoseWagsBlue, agree so much in all counts! As a musician, also, but not ever having been supported by “big Copyright” like Sony etc, there are SOOOooo many just trying to REACH a wider audience and get some followers. It’s a double edged sword. But this latest extreme round of copyright law suits leaves me upset.
SO COOL about the Victrola! I have a very sad memory from when my friend’s band was playing in Chicago in the 80s, and his I was supposed to deliver a Victrola recording record (found at a house sale) of Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” to his sister (who owned an antique store) during the show…I slipped on the ice and the recording SHATTERED! I still feel horrible about that! I sadly delivered the pieces… :*(
Hello everybody - I am so sorry about last week. I didn’t realise I hadn’t done the thread, and then was so swamped all week at work that I didn’t even visit the forums and thus didn’t realise my mistake
Special thanks to @Aislin for doing the week 15 post.
I really am so sorry more generally that I just haven’t been as present, organised or helpful in the forums as I would like to be since earlier this year. I hope that my workload will start to become sane again by the end of this year…
Anyway, hopefully I will remember to post the week 16 thread this evening
Did somebody… add a form to the spreadsheet? The sole question is “Pregunta sense títol”, which apparently means “untitled question”, so I’m guessing somebody clicked something to add a question and then saved without changing the default text! And also that person’s browser language was in Catalan
So… yeah… Guess it’s time to figure out if it’s possible to remove a form…
That`s probably me. I have been adding the new pages on the spreadsheet and Catalan is my language, so I guess I am the main suspect.
Sorry about that!
Could you erase it please? I am not sure I know how to do it!!
Haha, it’s not a problem, I was just intrigued I’m can’t seem to get rid of it (the dropdown menu has ‘unlink form’ greyed out) - could you maybe take a look, in case it’s linked to your account? There’s a menu at the top called “Form”.
It doesn’t really matter though, so no worries if we can’t get rid of it
Good to have you back!
It’s a relief to know it wasn’t anything more serious.
And I was nervous about the next thread, because I only have an e-book edition so figuring out the last line is… not impossible with a vocab sheet, but tricky.
Speaking about vocab sheet, I was also intrigued when I was preparing my post, but since it looked fine beside it I just shrugged and hoped everything’s alright
So good to know an answer to this mystery, too
I’m really impressed that we have such a good cohort still reading along at this point in the book. It’s no mean feat to keep plugging away for this many weeks!
