A really short chapter. I was surprised.

Summary

With the title it’s kinda spoil what was happening. Knowing what happened in volume one I knew what Erin was gonna do. Not expecting リラん to have an arrow proof belly though. I do understand エリン reaction in the end it did seems gross. If I have to bet she will probably become the first 王獣 rider. Even if she does not want it, then she is gonna what happens behind the mountain which I suppose is war.

I just looked at the schedule and found out we finish reading mid-december. I’m not used to these kind of schedule anymore ha ha. I have done way too many Re Zero.

I found this chapter to be somewhat challenging. There were a lot of words I had to look up, and I’m having trouble visualizing all of the locations described in the chapter in relation to one another.

Why is the thread so dead this week?

I guess it’s happens from time to time. I’m used to it by now. But yeah so much stuff happen in a short time I was expecting more comments. I think they discuss it all in the reading aloud

 I only just finished the chapter this afternoon.

Epic action chapter!

Questions!

Who is the traitor? (don’t answer if you really know, I am sure the book will tell me in due course!)
And were they too far away for a silent whistle to work? I was worried about both the arrows AND the thought of Riran being frozen mid-air, as happened to Eku. But I guess anyone with a whistle was probably just too intent on not getting killed and maybe didn’t even notice Riran before she zapped all the toda.

Traitor? do you mean the attacker? In that case, I guess some people from Aruhan because only they can fight with the lizard monster. I do believe there was already tension between them and the queen so…

@icefang97 Traitor as in, who told them the queen would be there at that point in time so that they could perform the attack?

My speculations:

Well, I have a slight suspicion towards the guy who suggested the queen should take the boat in the first place. But maybe he was only being nice and trying to ease her journey.

The other, stronger suspicion goes toward our fishy friend Damiya who I bet would not mind to take over the kingdom by means of marriage after the queen was out of the way…

I mean I don’t believe it was a secret transport. I thought everyone knew what she was doing. Her boat is probably no the most modest one too. I don’t think it was that hard to know. Just wait until she comes back then attack.

Got caught up just in time for the read-aloud!
This chapter was short and still I had to look up soo many words.

Well this was something else. I’d say the books have been pretty tame so far and it suddenly turned really gruesome. It feels like a tipping point in the story (but we’ll see). It seemed to me that エリン was pretty shocked by what リラン did so I wonder if this will affect their relationship or if she will have to grow accustomed to this kind of things? Gotta keep reading.
