Yesterday at our dôjô, while practicing pole techniques ( 棒術、ぼうじゃつ), a question arose about the meaning of some terms used.
There is a movement, called “shimoite kabute” that you pull the pole down and back, then raise it to over your head (so you can make a powerful strike).
The only thing I’m quite confident is that the “shimo” part should be 下, but for the rest I had no idea.
I searched on dictionary, and there is a godan かぶる(被る) verb with a fitting meaning, so maybe it could be “kabutte” instead ?
I also saw some ichidan いる verbs (like 鋳るor 率る ) that could fit.
But without any confidence. So I wonder if some one here knew about the expression and it’s actually meaning/spelling.
