This week’s chapter corresponds with the third episode of the anime, or roughly from 9:10 to 11:30 of the fourth season’s first episode.

Page 23, the emergency rations that Aoi is picturing is a box of CalorieMate.

The mountain they’re climbing in this chapter is Mount Tenran - I’m not completely sure where the walking path actually starts, but the anime uses the front gate of Nonin-ji as the establishing shot.

Page 28, I’m with Aoi here - why the school uniform? Aoi’s overcautiosness aside, doesn’t Hinata have any casual clothes?

Page 29, Tokyo Tower is 333 metres tall, but the main observation deck is at 150 metres (with a smaller - and more expensive - top deck at 250 metres).

When Hinata pulled out the gas cartridge, at first I was horrified that her father was letting a kid that young handle fire…but then I remembered that they’re actually supposed to be in highschool and it’s only their weird character design that makes them look like they’re 7.

Shame the anime isn’t available in my country. Now that we’re finally starting to see mountains, I would have loved to see them color. Oh well, Google Maps to the rescue. Thank you for the links.

Is it just emphasising how easy this week’s climb is? Aoi is all worked up about the expedition, but it’s such a simple climb you can just walk up in your school uniform?

That’s probably how she meant it, but I don’t see the point in wearing your school uniform on days off, either. Not when literally anything else would be more comfortable. She’s not even wearing convenient shoes.

US here - Looks like the anime isn’t available via Crunchyroll right now. Is there anywhere else that’s streaming it? Google isn’t being very helpful.

JustWatch is telling me the fourth season is availble on Amazon Prime (as “Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit”).

Question about pg. 34

Pg. 34

On the left side, I had some trouble finding “組立て” but did find “組み立てる” and it would make sense that this is the ーて form of that but the み is missing, is that just casual speech or a typo or just some character quirk? That would make sense for it to say “put it together like this…”

Yes I keep getting thrown off by the character design  they look soooo young

I just finished up this section and I’m enjoying it so far. I’m excited to see the future friendship and adventures!

I’m having a bit of a hard time with the grammar but just pushing through and not worrying too much about fully understanding everything. There are enough speech bubbles that I can confidently understand that I don’t feel like I’m struggling too much  Although without furigana I’m spending a lot of time searching kanji by their radicals. I’m getting really fast at picking out radicals in jisho lol

No, it’s just that in kun’yomi constructions that go kanji-kana-kanji-kana, the kana in between can often be omitted in the written version only - the missing kana is still pronounced, however, so it’s stitll くみたてる. Compare 入り口>入口 and 受け付け>受付.

Note that Jisho has 組立てる listed down in the “other forms” section of 組み立てる.

Have you also been making use of the vocab list linked in the first post? :slightly_smiling_face:

Ah I think I’m enjoying this a good deal more than I thought I would! What a cute chapter. Hopefully we see some character development over the rest of the volume
