Damn, I let a whole week fly by without reading x_x
@2OC3aOdKgwSGlxfz was the only one to post, only to make my previous message lie
Anyway, 6 chapters at once, again:
Ch 102
Wow, they have a very silent vacuum cleaner or the author never paid attention to their cat when cleaning because I only ever seen cats flee from the noise x) Well, I guess this chapters wouldn’t exist if it was accurate (or this whole manga for that matter xD)
She is doing it on purpose, right? Why put Chi where she will obstruct her later on? u_u
Chi likes being vacuum cleaned? oO
Well, that backfired quickly
Ch 103
Putting stuff at the stop of the stairs, what could go wrong? (Even without Chi, that would be risky)
Nobody heard the noise?
That face on the top-left of p87 x)
Oh! Headphones… お父さん, you do know you can lower the sound to hear the house’s sounds while still hearing the music, right?
Since when does a kitten roll that way? oO
Poor お父さん ^^
Ch 104
P95: with this face, you know she is up to no good.
But nothing happened… yet?!
Ch 105
Is it just me or does Alice seems more of a child than Chi in this chapter?
Ch 106
Chi was panicking so much x)
Ch 107
Ow, a collar this won’t go well
Of course, she doesn’t like it x)
Wut? How could she be distracted that easily? Oh!, right… it’s Chi u_u
Well, I don’t believe the collar will last until the end of the volume ^^
Me three!
Looking for an absolute beginner book and my kids love Chi! Did I miss out or is the club about to start a new block?
We still have 3 chapters to read starting “tomorrow” (midnight japanese time, so 16h today here; damn I got the dates wrong on the schedule ^^') and we’ll start volume 7 next week.
You are welcome to start at anytime; I’m watching all the treads (including of the first volume from the absolute beginner club book) so if you have a question about a chapter or volume, you can post in the corresponding thread and I’ll do my best to help
I’m probably over ambitious anyway. I shall wait for volume 7! Thanks.
You can try and come back later if it’s too hard for you at the moment but the first volumes have a lot of sentences breakdown (especially when Chi talks because of the baby talk). We stopped doing that for volume 4 because there was close to no difficult sentences (+ it really is boring and time consuming to do…)
Even without these breakdowns, it is easy to understand most of what is said from the images (except from some conversations between the adults) so I think it is a good first book* if you don’t run away from Chi’s baby talk although I would recommend knowing some grammar beforehand to ease the reading (I didn’t, it was hard ^^’ but the breakdowns and people answering my questions helped a lot.)
I guess you can catch up on the story in French or English but I would still recommend reading from volume 1 in Japanese to make use of the existing breakdowns. Of course, we’ll still help if you decide to start at volume 7 anyway (and that way you would have to do the breakdowns and try harder to understand
) Your call
* I still haven’t read any other book u_u (I have some waiting right next to Chi on the bookshelf, I’ll have to find the motivation one day… I’m learning Japanese specifically to be able to read Japanese books but I am afraid to open them, that’s stupid )
Edit: @Radish8 I see you liking the messages, come read with us
Haha, I just like to show appreciation of people supporting others in book clubs 'fraid I’ve already got a couple of book clubs on the go…
Well, it was worth a shot
Thanks for the advice. I think you’re right, I’ll start from volume 1 and loiter on the previous threads! Is the anime very close to the book? Could not find it on anime melon (just learned about this one). It would have been perfect to read and watch at the same time.
I never watched the anime so I don’t know; maybe someone else can answer? @Abstormal? @anna_harumaki?
I watched a few episodes long ago. I found the anime a bit more childish I think (though not sure if they changed much or not, can’t remember)
Could still be good enough to do side by side I guess =)
Also, I’m lagging behind, but have started reading LAST weeks chapters!
But If I find the time I’ll catch up in an hour =P
I have 3 boys aged 6, 8 and 10 and even the 10 year old loves chi. They sing itadakimasssu and tap their tummies before meals like chi in the opening credits. The anime is cute and at 3 minute episodes, it’s a good reward for well behaved children
I watched the original anime a looong time ago (2010 maybe?) and it is kinda hazy in my memory, but from what I can remember most of the important events seem to follow the manga closely, at least to the point we have currently read.
I do remember there was a special event towards the end of the anime that I’ve not seen happen in the manga yet, but it might be in the following volumes.
I have not watched the 3D CGI remake of the anime that aired a few years ago, I’m not sure how close that one is to the manga.
Ch108
Haha, the black cat still hasn’t figured that Chi will follow him anytime she sees him ^^
What a dark chapter…
Ch109
P132: who else half-expected the eyes to belong to bats?
Nothing to see here, the local overlords are having a secret meeting, look away humans!
So, Chi didn’t recognize the park before the black one told her where they were? She’s going to get lost on the way back, isn’t she? x)
The trouble-maker(?) is here!
Ch110
Well, I wonder who is making trouble here… ^^’
Noooo! Chi, don’t die because of the damn collar!
No more collar! Called it!
Although I didn’t think it wold last until the last page x)
Hop, a bit late because of work but here is the thread for volume 7
@anna_harumaki, @Abstormal: still reading? :3
Still reading! Will catch up! =D
Edit: Done! <3
