Please follow these rules to avoid inadvertent spoilers. Some folks are reading JoJo for the first time and have never watched the anime either. If you’re unsure whether something should have a spoiler tag, err on the side of using one.
Any potential spoiler for the current week’s reading need only be covered by a spoiler tag. Predictions and conjecture made by somebody who has not read ahead still falls into this category.
Any potential spoilers for external sources need to be covered by a spoiler tag and include a label (outside of the spoiler tag) of what might be spoiled. These include but are not limited to: other book club picks, other books, games, movies, anime, etc. I recommend also tagging the severity of the spoiler (for example, I may still look at minor spoilers for something that I don’t intend to read soon).
Any information from later in the volume or series than the current week’s reading (including trigger warnings that haven’t yet manifested) needs to be hidden by spoiler tags and labeled as coming from later sections. For other Parts, please label the Part before the spoiler, for example “Well we know 2 [character] survives because they’re in a later Part”
Instructions for Spoiler Tags
Click the cog above the text box and use either the “Hide Details” or “Blur Spoiler” options. The text which says “This text will be hidden” should be replaced with what you are wishing to write. In the case of “Hide Details”, the section in the brackets that is labeled “Summary” can be replaced with whatever you like also (i.e, [details=”Chapter 1, Pg. 1”]).
Hide Details results in the dropdown box like below:
Example
This is an example of the “Hide Details” option.
The “Blur Spoiler” option will simply blur the text it surrounds.
This is an example of the “Blur Spoiler” option.

Chapter 26: 暗黒の騎士達・タルカスと黒騎士ブラフォード その 1 Questions
What reason does Dio give for fighting with JoJoたち?
What does Dio compare hamon to? How many puns/various meanings of 吹く can you find here? What are they?
What does Dio tell his minions to do?
What does Speedwagon offer to do? Where did he learn about this technique?
What is scary about the difference between Jonathan and Tarkus to Speedwagon?
Does the layout of the panels on the fifth and sixth pages remind you of anything?
Summarize the mix of real and fake history in this chapter (if you don’t understand it, please feel free to just request the answer from me. You can do this at any time for any question btw.)
I hate this chapter so much. That took 3h with the lookups and recording every ふたり to 2人 change in the text
Started reading with this chapter! Didn’t want to be 26 chapters behind everyone else lol
Questions
He comments on the size difference between Jonathan and his sword, as well as commenting on Tarkus’ strange hair and mentioning that he’s not like the zombies they fought in the tunnel.
I honestly don’t know I started with this chapter LOL
I don’t know much about English history, but I do know a bit about how Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I and how Elizabeth I ordered Mary to be executed, but that’s about it. In terms of fake history I’m guessing everything involving the two knights.
What does hamon sound like according to Speedwagon?
How do zombies make more zombies?
Why did JoJo and Bruford stop fighting?
What comparison does Speedwagon make of the change in Bruford’s face? I feel like it says a lot about speedweed lol
What feeling does Bruford have upon realizing what’s happening? Where does he say he is going to go? What meanings does 旅立とう contain? (check the vocab sheet for a cheat, heh)
Do you notice anything about Tarkus’s speech pattern? As a hint, we’ve seen many of the words he uses before.
What danger is Zeppeli in and how does he avoid it? also did you catch mustacheless zep?
New song references will come eventually. So for now, please enjoy more Led Zeppelin while I try not to exhaust all of it too early
On page 1 of the chapter, Poco ends one of his statements with だってば, which is famously used by a character in another franchise. Do you know which character?
What do the other boys think of Poco’s story?
How do they want to punish him and what do they joke will happen?
I just noticed this bookclub was going on, and since I’ve already watched the anime for the first parts I figured I might as well just join now and then catch up on the reading of the previous chapters. I gotta say though, the difference in character designs is really striking, specially on Zeppeli (he looks completely different!!)
On the questions
I assume you are talking of だってばよ by
They didn’t believe him at all
And they wanted to hang him for treason over the graves of the knights
Still behind by a little bit, but I got caught up to when Bruford is defeated at the end of my second volume!
Chapter 26
These panel shapes are pretty cool! I noticed them and felt like they really fit the historical narrative, but couldn’t quite put my finger on why. Another interesting thing is that the panels with the historical flashbacks have ragged edges, I think with the intent of making them look like old paper.
Chapter 29
Even though they’re being controlled by Dio, they still retain their memories and personality traits from before, like their sense of chivalry and pride.
It moves through “turgor pressure” (had to look up what this was). Since hamon can only be transferred out of hands and feet, JoJo can’t use hamon while his hands and feet are bound up by the hair.
The stronger the hair gets
He compares Bruford first to an octopus and then to a snake strangling a mouse. Both descriptions, and the situation, kinda freaked me out!
Re chapter 26, that’s a great catch!! It really does add to the atmosphere
Chapter 29
It’s a pretty stark contrast to the policeman zombies and the other Windknight’s Lot zombies, isn’t it?
Yes and no, the line is「手や足など」, and など like “etc” so other things would work. I’m thinking lips and the tongue too could work. The problem is that hamon requires blood flow and Bruford is squeezing Jonathan too tightly for sufficient blood flow.
Yep yep
Ahhh, like the squeezing/choking aspect? There’s a lot of moments like that in JoJo ngl, like once or twice a part. I’m not sure if Araki’s into it or what. I can try to remember to add content warnings for it if you’d like?
You can if you want, but don’t worry about it! Some of the body horror stuff definitely makes me feel like but it’s handleable. The mouse contemplating their impending death made me sad
What connections to the mask does younger Zeppeli draw to the healing man?
I wonder if the point of telling Zeppeli to specifically go 上流へ上流へ is a reference to the carp myth. If you didn’t know, the carp myth is that a koi who successfully swims up a waterfall will become a dragon (this is why magikarp becomes gyrados too btw).
What does Tonpetty’s (Araki chosen English spelling) speech patterns reveal about his character? What sets his speech apart from other characters?
What’s on Zeppeli’s mind?
Anyone else feel like they’ve seen more of Tarkus than they needed/wanted to?
How does Zeppeli plan to proceed? What happens? How does he adjust?
