Finished this weeks reading over the long weekend!
Thought it was one of the easier readings in a while with not much dialog. Really loved kero playing his game, I thought that was a really cute detail! Til next week

Just finished this weeks reading and wowww what an ending to the chapter! Did I misread that or is Tomoyo crushing on Sakura??? That would be so crazy and I’m so here for it if it’s true. Or maybe it’s just 
friend love or something else. Either way that ending was a great cliffhanger too. Another card hunter!? Seems like it’s really picking up. Excited for what next week will bring

Relationships as of Week 4 (Chap 7 Pt 2)
Yes, Tomoyo is crushing on Sakura. Definitely not just friend love – on page 68 she specifically says,
「きっとさくらちゃんとは違う意味の「好き」ですけど」
(“…But my “like/love” always means something different from Sakura’s”)
Sakura clearly means friend love, so something different is heavily implied to be romantic love.
…But also, on page 65, Sakura’s dad and Tomoyo’s mom have this exchange：
Sakura’s dad：
「撫子さんも君がだいすきだったよ」
(“Nadeshiko loved you too”)
Tomoyo’s mom (crying):
「でも わたしが欲しかった「好き」じゃなかったわ」
(“But it wasn’t the like/love that I wanted”)
This heavily implies that she was (or honestly, is?!) in love with Nadeshiko, just like Tomoyo has a crush on Sakura.
So this is the love situation:
- Tomoyo’s mom was in love with Nadeshiko (her cousin!!!) since she was a child.
- But instead Nadeshiko married her high school teacher (while she was still in high school).
- Tomoyo has a crush on Sakura (incidentally, because her mom and Sakura’s mom were cousins, this means Tomoyo and Sakura are second cousins)
- Tomoyo appears to have a crush on Touya (who is also her second cousin), but actually she just gets flustered when she sees Touya’s ears because they look like Sakura’s ears.
- Sakura has a crush on Yukito (who does not appear to be related to her, but is a heck of a lot older than her lol).
- It is unknown if Yukito or Touya have love interests.
I actually wasn’t going to comment this week because I’ve been busy with the Lunar New Year but I didn’t want to pass up talking about this

I did not get every single sentence of the dialogue, especially the part with all the 一番s
Yeah, that section was tough for me too. I’m gonna take this as an excuse to look at it more closely!
Also as an aside, I just can’t decide how to refer to Sakura’s dad and Tomoyo’s mom. Like, calling them “Sakura’s dad and Tomoyo’s mom” is long, so I could do their first names, but nobody calls Sakura’s dad by his first name. It also feels weird to do last names because nobody calls Tomoyo’s mom by her last name.
…Anyways for now I’m gonna call them Sonomi and Kinomoto.

“I like/loved Nadeshiko the most” (I think this might mean like, “I loved her more than anyone else loved her”? Or “I loved her more than I loved anyone else?” Not sure if this is as ambiguous in Japanese as it feels in English)
Kinomoto: 撫子さんも君が大好きだったよ
“Nadeshiko loved you too”
Sonomi: でも わたしが欲しかった「好き」じゃなかったわ
“But… it wasn’t the like/love that I wanted.”
撫子…幸せそうだったわ 先生と結婚してから…
“Nadeshiko… she seemed happy… since she married you…”
いつ見ても いままでで一番いい顔して笑ってた…
“Whenever I looked at her… she was smiling with the best expression I’ve ever seen…”
(I’m definitely not sure about this one. I’m assuming 顔 means “expression” rather than literal face. いままで means “as of now/to date” so I’m assuming the meaning is literally “the best face (i’ve seen) as of now.” Happy to hear other opinions!)

Sonomi:あなたのそういうところが嫌いよ
“That’s the sort of thing I hate about you!”
(I didn’t get why she was mad at first but now that I read it again, I’d be pissed off too if I was upset my cousin/crush died and her husband was like “damn sorry you didn’t get to see her much for 11 years because she was busy being my wife” LOL)

I’m struggling too with who is the object and who is the subject of 好き, but I think the fact that 撫子 is marked with のこと means 撫子 is the object here.

Woops, misread you comment about the ambiguity of 好き, since something like 彼女が好きです means “I love her”, not “She loves [me/him/her]”. That’s what I was struggling with.
In the わたしが 一番撫子のこと好きだったのよ, the grammatical subject is わたし so I initially wondered if she was saying that Nadeshiko loved her.
As a matter of fact, Kinomoto then says: 撫子さんも 君が 大好きだったよ so the が particle is still attached to Sonomi BUT the direction of the verb is reversed.

I’ve got OG edition, and it has an extra “で”:
いつ見ても いままでで一番いい顔して笑ってた…
I was confused by that, but I see it’s not in @zucchi 's transcription. Is that missing in later editions, in which case I assume it’s a typo.
The mistake is mine – there’s double で in RE as well, I just thought I’d made a typo so I removed it 
But that’s actually helpful to know, because apparently いままでで is used differently than いままで on its own! It means “as of now/to date.”
That makes more sense in the context of the sentence, I think! I’ve updated my transcription now.
Thanks, @zucchi ; I didn’t think of looking up いままでで . I see some reference to “いつ…ても” being “no matter how much I …”, so maybe: “No matter how much I look, up to now I’ve never seen such a happy smiling face”.

Ah, I see why you got confused. Indeed, in a sentence with 好き, が usually marks the thing being liked in a sentence, and, if indicated, は usually marks the one doing the liking. (I’m deliberately avoiding the terms “subject” and “object” here because I think it confuses things in this case.)
But the secret is that が can technically be used for both the “one liking a thing” in a sentence, and “the one being liked.” It’s just that the topic marker は usually replaces one of the が in the statement, and it more commonly replaces one than the other.
Anyways, as you’ve noticed, in the first sentence, 「わたしが…」is referring to わたし doing the liking, not わたし being liked.
The sentence is also harder to parse because there’s a が omitted here.
It might be more clear if you thought of the sentence this way:
「わたしが 一番撫子のことが好きだったのよ」
The が used to mean “the one being liked” would actually go after 撫子のこと, if it was present.
