And if they’re falling off a cliff, you’d use コラアアアアアアアア
I haven’t looked into these two, but I read them the same as @2OC3aOdKgwSGlxfz did: “Hey! Wait!”
Finally found the time and read the chapter, now I just have to catch up with the discussion ![]()
マジかよ⁉, then I have interpreted this kind of suffix incorrectly for… years =._.=
To get a sense of it, try saying something like よかった out loud, but leave off the た.
When I ask even what feels like the lamest question stuff like this happens ![]()
Rats!! I have a question… But it’s not on this chapter… I decided to get a head start on chap 4…guess it will have to wait (rather than move it later hehe)
One must learn patience in order to achieve enlightenment.
Oh my gosh thank you so much for this vocab sheet!
I read chapter 3 last night and couldn’t understand much of what パパさん was saying – I didn’t realise he was speaking a dialect, I thought it was my bad grammar + his accent… I made pretty good guesses for most of 圭くん’s parts (I’m not as advanced as you so I aim for good-enough understanding) – but most of the father’s speech bubbles went over my head ![]()
I’m going to read his parts again with the vocab sheet open. ![]()
Haha, yeah, I think when I posted the link to this thread in the home thread I included a warning that the dad is basically unintelligible - kind of horrifying if you don’t realise it’s supposed to be hard to understand ![]()
don’t worry… see above lol
@Radish8 Hah I missed that note
I just started reading the chapter and thought the language level had suddenly jumped in some places – I only thought to check this thread (linked on the main page) once I’d finished the chapter… But I’m glad I did!
@shuly
Yeah I think I did the same face as 真琴ちゃん on page 65
Luckily the next couple of chapters are a bit easier!
I lowkey want to learn 津軽弁 (or some other 東北弁) once I have a solid grasp of the standard dialect. Tofugu used to have an article on it but I can’t find it…one main point was that most Japanese people can’t understand it either. Movies in 東北弁 frequently have subtitles in standard Japanese.
So don’t feel bad at all – Papa is supposed to be incomprehensible (and that joke gets reused later in the series too).
OK, if enough Japanese people don’t understand different dialects, then I’m not alone lol… I’ll have to keep working on the standard dialect before trying to learn another one ![]()
Omg I had forgotten about the dad. Took me by complete surprise
