I’m the same! Lessons in the morning between 7-9, and then I’ll hit the subsequent reviews on time, with the biggest batches of reviews hitting between 6-8am, and 5-9pm because of occasional slides in routine due to work/commitments etc. If reviews come up after 9pm I just ignore them and do them the next day, which helped bring everything down to early evening. Took a lot a self restraint though! ![]()
When you do your lessons always at the same time and have only two other review times (one four hours later, the other one 8 hours after the first one), over time all your reviews will naturally schedule to the second review time and to one hour before that. Basically, don’t do the reviews when they come in, but always do reviews at a certain time.
I could try that… But I like the no reviews in the morning part.
Absolutely understandable, sometimes the last thing I want to be doing is 50+ reviews over breakfast! Unfortunately I know my brain retains things far better in the morning, so if I’ve got problem vocab that keeps getting knocked back, the best time for me to be seeing it is within a couple of hours of me waking up. ![]()
@ApplePine that (reviews twice a day roughly 12 hours apart) and I omitted the ‘today’ part of the review forecast, which holds all the 4 and 8 hour intervals for App I/II. So today’s overview is slightly less clean.
I am not o:
I never do the reviews when they come in, I just do them twice a day, every day, but that time changes every day because I kind of suck at keeping a schedule in all areas of my life.
Yep

Apparently I’m a weirdo around here. I usually have a good amount pop up between 5-7pm.
Exactly! That’s the way I do it as well.
It’s not really a schedule per se, but I always seem to get a big batch of reviews in the morning and then little ones every hour or so. I’m really impressed by the people who only have big review blocks. I didn’t even know such a thing was possible.
Thanks to the explanations I got I see some difference for sure
It also helped give me an idea when is my time preference ( although I think that was only possible cz i finished lessons and am only left with reviews ; I tend to do lessons less consistently or depending whether i feel like it and am in need of new input)
I think it is fine. Here is mine for comparison:

Lol. Naphthalene with the humble-brag. ![]()
I think as long as you are consistent with the twice a day reviews you will be fine. Real life is something users here need to deal with so the fact that you can maintain twice a day consistently, never mind that the time fluctuates, is a win in my book. Way to go! ![]()
This is 100% me at the moment and its horrible. My daily routine is all over the place atm (not just in terms of studying japanese but in general) so my reviews are as well. I either have nothing to do when I have free time, or have 200 reviews sitting there when Im busy. This has let to me not even touching the new items from this level for some weeks now, so if possible I would highly suggest you start following a schedule, even if its a loose one (say a session after getting up and one before going to bed for example)
