While I was looking through older threads of the forums, I found the “WaniKani Wednesday”-threads. In case you don’t know what these are, here is a link to the first one. In these threads, it appears like the WaniKani/Tofugu team gave the community fun challenges like this one.
Where did these events go? They all look like a lot of fun, and I would’ve loved to participate in them if I had already been around here when they were hosted.

For everyone interested, here is the answer that I received
They weren’t stopped for one reason in particular but rather they simply fizzled out, and, as the circumstances have since changed enough, they weren’t brought back. Some members of staff who were around back then haved moved on for example, and we also unfortunately had to close the Tofugu store which made things it a little more complicated for giving out prizes and rewards. All in all, it definitely looks like they were a lot of fun but it’s unfortunately not something we are thinking of bringing back at the moment.
