I’d love to have a way to extract all the example sentences from items I’ve learned. It would be such a nice way to get reading practice that would automatically be exactly at the level of kanji knowledge, and give a bit more “seeing it in the wild” help.
Does anything like this already exist or could it be created?
If you already have wkof installed (if not: Installing Wanikani Open Framework), then go to the WK site, open the javascript console (F12, Ctrl+Shift+I, or Ctrl+Shift+J), go to the console tab, then run

This assumes your definition of “known” is anything guru I and above. It should result in a large piece of text right after (it will be cut off by …), just right click and copy it, then paste it into your favourite text editor. This is the japanese sentence of every single context sentence from vocabulary words you in theory know.
If you want a different format, just say it.

You likely didn’t install wanikani open framework then I’m assuming, or it’s not enabled
Is Open Framework the #1 script in TamperMonkey’s script list? It needs to be, so other scripts can find it when they load.
Okay, that looks good. The other thing that I keep forgetting about now (since I’m not active in scripting anymore) is that Chrome now requires that you turn on Developer Mode to allow TamperMonkey to inject scripts into the page.
edit: Supposedly here, though I can’t confirm right now…

I did go into Chrome and put this into the javascript console, this is what happened:
Unfortunately, I don’t know enough about Safari to be helpful, but a lot of people run Open Framework on Safari, so that alone isn’t an issue.
Clearly, something is preventing Open Framework from being injected. If it’s not due to Developer Mode, I don’t know why. If Open Framework was being injected successfully, you should just be able to type ‘wkof’ in the console and it will return the Open Framework object.
My guess at what’s happening is that safari is quarantining the scripts, so you can’t easily touch them. If that’s the case, the way around that would just be to click on “Create a new script” inside tampermonkey, and pasting the code in there instead. If the other userscripts work, this should as well.
Hi, all. I’m looking for a racing timer script to gamify the temporal element of WaniKani reviews and help me to maintain focus. I tend to click away to other tabs when reviews get frustrating, which bloats my session times.
Ideally something that creates urgency/momentum:
Countdown timer per item (maybe 10-15 seconds?)
Speed/streak counters
Audio/visual cues to keep moving
Goal is turning review sessions into a focused ‘race’ to power through the queue without tab-switching when items get tough. Want to maximize reviews per session while keeping accuracy high.
Anyone seen anything like this, or know if it’s feasible? Thanks!

Not exactly a userscript, but I’ve been working on making some games that connects to your WaniKani. One of them is Kanji Rain, where words fall from the sky and you have to type the readings before they hit the ground. It’s not quite what you’re asking for, but it has that same fast-paced feel and you can filter by SRS stage to focus on certain words. You can check it out at Asoi.io if you’re curious!
On the Reviews page, I’d love if the ON readings were the Left side of center, English in the middle and kun readings on the Right side of center. The current input bar is a 1/2”-ish line with 3 divisions: [blank / input / blank] with everything centered, the question prompt and input space. Instead, I’d suggest 5 divisions: [blankSpace / ON / English / kun / blankSpace].
Does the WK data stream allow for parsing of the ON/kun stream. The data is linked cuz your kun response is flagged when they’re asking for ON.
It’s a mnemonic device in itself that the Japanese use:
ON-readings on the West/Left in romaji-CAPS&very-sharp-angled-katakana and
kun-readings on the East/Right in romaji-lowerCase&very-rounded-hiragana
Possible? Too fussy & time-consuming?

Can someone please make a userscript fir the Kanji pages that makes the reading more colorful/easy to see because the default bolding does not give me enough contrast at all and I keep getting confused about what reading we are supposed to even be learning.
